🎤💜 Today, we honor Selena Quintanilla! 💜🎤

Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Selena became one of the most beloved voices in Tejano music. Known as the “Queen of Tejano Music,” she broke barriers, inspired generations, and helped bring Tejano music to audiences around the world.

Selena’s story reminds us that our heritage is something to celebrate, our dreams are worth pursuing, and our unique voices can make a difference. ❤️

🇲🇽🇺🇸 Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight! 🇺🇸🇲🇽

This week, De Zavala Middle School is proud to honor the man our school is named after, Lorenzo de Zavala!
Born in Yucatán, Mexico, Lorenzo de Zavala was a Mexican statesman, writer, diplomat, and advocate for democratic government. He later came to Texas, where he helped shape the early Republic of Texas, signed the Texas Declaration of Independence, and served as its first vice president.
His story reminds us that history is shaped by people whose experiences, ideas, and contributions leave a lasting impact.
At De Zavala Middle School, we are proud to celebrate his legacy and the Hispanic heritage that continues to enrich our community. 💙💚

📣💚 Start With Hello Week 💚📣

This week, we're proud to celebrate Start With Hello Week, a reminder that something as simple as saying "hello" can make a big difference in someone's day.

At our school, we believe every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and connected. Throughout the week, students and staff will focus on building friendships, including others, and creating a welcoming environment where everyone belongs.

We encourage our Lobos to reach out to someone new, invite others to join in, and spread kindness wherever they go. Together, we can make sure no one feels left out because every connection starts with a simple hello.
