The Laurel Foundation

The Laurel Foundation The Laurel Foundation serves hundreds of children, youth, and their families living with HIV/AIDS, and transgender/gender-diverse youth.

The Laurel Foundation's programs provide opportunities for participants to build a social support system with peers, develop special bonds with adult volunteers who serve as crucial role models, and learn important life skills. This serves as the foundation that supports social and emotional development, boosts self-esteem, builds trust and helps participants identify their strengths and achieve personal goals

Meet The Laurel Foundation (📍 United States 🇺🇸)

The Laurel Foundation empowers at-promise youth and families through cost-free programs that prioritize mental health, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging.

Through immersive experiences like Camp Laurel and Camp Mulberry, along with year-round leadership retreats, day camps, and caregiver support, young people build confidence, resilience, and meaningful connections in safe, affirming spaces. Many participants come to Laurel programs navigating trauma, instability, or social isolation, and the organization’s trauma-informed, compassion-centered approach ensures every young person is met with dignity and care.

By modeling kindness through mentorship, peer support, and inclusive practices, young people develop life skills, strengthen empathy, and form lasting community bonds that support their well-being long after camp ends.

“Kindness is not just a value at The Laurel Foundation, it is the way our programs come to life.”

With support from the Kindness in Community Fund, The Laurel Foundation is expanding access to its life-changing camp and leadership programs, ensuring hundreds of young people each year can experience mental health support, mentorship, and community at no cost.

Excited for Camp Laurel Family Camp next weekend! We've got an incredible volunteer team coming together, many returning from years past, to support a session that means so much to us.

This one is bittersweet: it marks the close of Camp Laurel's work serving children and youth impacted by HIV, as we shift our focus to HIV prevention for the youth who need it most. Campers from decades past are coming back, bringing their own families this time, to share in the magic of this place once more.

To every volunteer and donor who's made this possible, thank you. We couldn't do this without you. 💙

✨ Help Bring Creative Healing to Camp Mulberry! ✨

At Camp Mulberry, journaling is more than just writing on a page; it is a powerful tool for self-expression, reflection, healing, and processing emotions. For many of our transgender/gender-diverse youth, having a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings can make a profound difference.

This summer, our campers will have the opportunity to create their own handmade, personalized journals, making each journal a special reflection of who they are. By designing something uniquely their own, youth can build a deeper connection to the journaling process and have a meaningful outlet to help them navigate emotions, celebrate growth, and tell their stories.

We are incredibly grateful to , a talented nonbinary artist, who will be joining us at Camp Mulberry to facilitate this beautiful and empowering workshop with our campers. 💛

We need your help with supplies to make this experience possible! Click the link below to our Amazon Wish List, and help make this program a success.

Today is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, a day to recognize the scientists, healthcare workers, advocates, volunteers, and communities working toward a future without HIV/AIDS. ❤️

At The Laurel Foundation, we believe education, prevention, compassion, and access to care are critical in ending the HIV epidemic. Many of the youth we serve are disproportionately impacted by stigma, lack of resources, and barriers to healthcare, making awareness and prevention efforts more important than ever.

We honor everyone participating in HIV vaccine research and those helping to create a healthier and more equitable future for all. Together, through education, support, advocacy, and science, we move closer to an AIDS-free generation.

Yesterday, something unexpected happened at 's office… a beautiful peacock appeared outside our door. 🦚

Peacocks are symbols of hope, renewal, and showing your true colors boldly and proudly, and it felt like the perfect reminder of what camp is all about.

In just over a month, we will welcome youth to camp who are searching for acceptance, confidence, healing, and joy. Many of them arrive carrying anxiety, fear, isolation, or the feeling that they have to hide who they are. But through the love and support of our volunteers, counselors, and community, they leave camp stronger, more empowered, and ready to spread their wings.

It takes a village to create that magic.

As camp gets closer, we are still looking for volunteers, supporters, and helping hands to make this summer unforgettable for over 130 youth. Whether you give your time, donate supplies, or help spread the word, you become part of creating a safe space where young people can truly shine.

Maybe that peacock was reminding us that something beautiful is coming. 💙
