Fourth graders took learning into the maker space this week as they designed and built covered wagons inspired by the Overland Trail! As part of their California Studies unit, students explored what it took for families to travel west, thinking carefully about materials, function, durability and the challenges pioneers faced along the journey. From problem-solving and collaboration to creativity and hands-on engineering, this project brought history to life in a powerful (and fun) way.

Then & Now: Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day ❤️
One of Chandler’s most beloved traditions! For decades, students have welcomed their grandparents and special friends to campus to share their favorite parts of their school day. It’s always a heart-warming celebration—bringing generations together to enjoy the joy of learning and create new memories! 🍀👵👴🍀
We can’t wait to welcome all grandparents and special friends to campus tomorrow for a day filled with smiles, stories and connection! 🎉

📚✨ Then (1995) & Now (2024): Book Fair ✨📚
The Book Fair has been a Chandler tradition for over 5 decades! Generations of students have loved picking out books in the gym, laughing with friends, and exploring all the fun Book Fair has to offer. It’s as much about community and tradition as it is about the books! 📖💚
Today’s students still light up when they find a story they can’t wait to dive into. Some things truly stand the test of time. 🌟📘
Come celebrate this year’s Book Fair & Fall Festival this Saturday! While rain is in the forecast, it won’t dampen our spirits — there will be books, activities, treats, and fun for everyone. Whether you’re a current parent, alumni, or prospective family, we hope you’ll bring your whole family and join us. 🎉

🏈 Then & Now: Mr. Anderson/Mr. A 🏐
Now: Chandler alumna and staff member Cat ’09 brought some serious 90s vibes to campus this Halloween — channeling none other than Mr. Anderson! 🧢👟
Then (1999): Cat passed out these laminated cards so current students could see what Mr. A (as he’s known now) actually looked like in 1999! 🏀 We have to admit… the resemblance is pretty spot-on. 👀
Now: Two Mr. Andersons, one incredible Chandler legacy. Thank you Mr. A for helping coach generations of Chandler students over your 32 years, and still going strong! 💪
Which version of Mr. Anderson/Mr. A do you remember? 🏃♂️🍀🏃♀️

Our 8th graders have been diving into the High School Survey course—meeting admissions teams from a wide variety of high schools and hearing firsthand from Chandler alumni about life after middle school. 🎓💚
A special highlight: alumna Victoria Pearson ’08 returned to campus to share tips on preparing for high school interviews. Students then practiced their interview skills with Chandler faculty, administrators, and alumni Evan Otero ’96 and Jenny Seto '01.
We’re so grateful to all the schools who visited and all the alumni who have helped our 8th graders this fall!

🥚 Then & Now: Egg Drop 🪂
Then (1975): Chandler students were featured in the local paper for their “Eggnaut” project: an experiment to see if they could package eggs well enough to survive a long drop. Eggs were released from a police helicopter 🚁 at a whopping 500 feet, with two eggs surviving the fall!
Now: While the helicopter was certainly egg-citing, it wasn’t eggs-actly sustainable and so, the Egg Drop off the Tower was born. For decades since, students have launched their carefully engineered creations from the top of the Tower — a tradition that still soars today! Last year’s Class of 2025 even recreated the iconic 1975 photo.
Tomorrow, Chandler’s 8th Graders continue the tradition — which eggs will survive, and which will crack under the pressure? 🥚🎯
