We have been told to “quit while you’re ahead,” and, “if it hasn’t worked by now, it probably never will,” or, “sounds like a pipe dream, in my professional opinion,” and the list goes on.
Through our relentless pursuit to advance our cause, and with a “little” help from those who believe in us, relentlessly - and the energy we gain from the non-believers’ words, we continue to dream, we continue to create, which leads us to this:
We are so excited about what is becoming of our vision. To receive this type of recognition is far beyond what we seek. We seek to make a difference; and that’s it; but when the mayor of a town 2,600 miles away delivers a letter like this, we are honored and humbled to know our labor is bearing fruit in the lives of teachers and their students - this is what we seek! We can’t even describe the slew of emotions this brings. Thank you, Cynthia Hunter, for believing in our creation, and believing that it can help people of all ages find a new place created in their hearts, minds and souls, to look at life and at themselves with a different set of lenses, using words and questions that begin the reflection process; and that they may find it in themselves to write their own beautiful and amazing story. You are an angel, Cynthia, and we are more grateful than you could possibly know. And thank you to the City of Greensboro, NC., for this amazing letter of recognition. We can’t wait to visit.
This self-learning workbook (and the fully illustrated story book currently in progress) is the culmination of many experiences, thoughts and ideas, and while in some of the darkest of our own moments, and of our darkest memories. You see, we can’t, and we won’t EVER give up; because if we do, we give up on those who need tools like this to make it through to the other side of their journey, and find themselves in a place they created from all that lies within.
