Ending the year with a splash 🚀🌊 Using baking soda and vinegar, our students in Honors Chemistry designed and launched bottle rocket boats across the water, putting their understanding of chemical reactions into motion in one final hands-on lab.

Last week, a group of seniors traveled to Montana to serve at St. Ignatius Mission while deepening their understanding of the Bitterroot Salish, Upper Pend d’Oreille, and Kootenai communities of the Flathead Reservation. Through service, learning, and meaningful connection, they gained a greater appreciation for the history, culture, and resilience of these communities, an experience that will stay with them long after the journey home.

Catch Mayfield alumna Trinity Gomez ’18 on the sidelines of the NFL, where she is building a career in sports media and digital storytelling as Social Media Coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams. Trinity credits Mayfield with helping her discover her purpose and build the confidence to pursue a wide range of interests. Most recently, she helped ideate and produce the Rams’ 2026 schedule release video inspired by the film Napoleon Dynamite, showcasing the creativity and collaborative spirit she continues to bring to her work in sports media.

Waking up at 3 a.m. to cook and serve meals for those experiencing homelessness was just one part of our seniors’ overnight service trip to Dolores Mission. Through their time serving the Dolores Mission Parish Community, visiting Homeboy Industries, and learning alongside organizations rooted in justice and compassion, they are finishing their senior year truly living out our motto: Actions Not Words.

Last night, our sophomores spoke with confidence while presenting their Sophomore Research Projects, reflecting the curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness they’re developing. The culmination of a year-long exploration of global issues, including women’s empowerment, healthcare, and human rights, this showcase highlighted the remarkable depth of research and thinking our 10th graders are capable of.

After completing their AP Exam, our AP Art History students visited the Norton Simon Museum to experience many of the works and artists they spent the year studying firsthand. We were especially fortunate to hear from alumna Ava Robles ‘17, who shared how her love of AP Art History at Mayfield led to a career in the arts at the Norton Simon, and former Mayfield teacher and past parent Frank Karl, who offered deeper insight into the collection.
