Caltech InnoWorks

Caltech InnoWorks The Caltech InnoWorks chapter aims to serve underprivileged local Pasadena middle school students.

As many as fifty percent of teenagers in underrepresented minority groups in the US will never graduate from high school—a substantially higher drop-out rate than their peers. Studies have shown that the so-called achievement gap increases substantially with age, suggesting that environmental influences play a major role in the development of this gap. We believe that InnoWorks can increase enthusiasm and confidence in learning science and engineering for youth who otherwise lack access to exciting educational opportunities outside of the classroom.

Inspire middle schoolers to love science! (and get free food)

The Caltech InnoWorks club works to increase science opportunities for underserved middle school students. To this end, we hold an entirely free of charge, summer science camp for these students. This year, we plan on running many exciting hands-on activities, including some with Lego Mindstorm robot kits.

If you are interested, please contact [email protected]. We will also be holding an info session on Friday (April 12) at 12 - 1pm at the SFL media conference room (3rd floor). Lunch will be provided!!
