Congrats to the Class of 2026 on a wonderful set of final Field Studies trips to the Kern River, Catalina Island and Olympia National Park!

We are so proud of the way these seniors, now alums, embraced challenges and showed up for one another throughout their Field Studies journey.

A special thank you to the student designers for all the hard work and imagination they brought to putting these trips together. We will miss you!

During the final week of school as part of the end of school festivities, Egret’s Perch and Treehouse students took Spanish beyond the classroom and into the real world by ordering their food in Spanish at a local restaurant. This special experience was the perfect way to celebrate the end of our unit about the city and all they have learned this year. Thank you for giving our students such a warm welcome!

Two teaching legends were honored at the last K-8 All School Meeting of the year!! 💚💚💚

A huge congratulations to Ann Liaskov, former K-8 lead teacher and current learning support specialist, on her incredible 40th year at Sequoyah, and to Erin Trefry, K-8 art specialist, on marking her 20th year! Thank you both for your decades of dedication and impact on our community! We are grateful!

The annual Staff vs Junior High Capture the Flag game! We are grateful to celebrate the winding down of another school year with a spirited and joyful contest!

Capture the flag is a beloved tradition that beats in the heart of every Sequoyahn! Once a Gryphon, always a Gryphon!

The Class of 2026 is off for their final Beach Day! The countdown to graduation has officially begun!

Junior high students dive into constitutional law! Sequoyah mom and civil rights lawyer Rachel Bien visited junior high history classes to explore birthright citizenship, the 14th Amendment, and Trump v. Barbara, a current Supreme Court case addressing the president’s executive order that limits birthright citizenship. Students will now author their own SCOTUS decisions on the case, supporting their holdings with legal precedents. Thank you, Rachel, for spending time with our students!

Costa Rica trip one - students received a warm welcome from their host families!

The journey began with two days in Alajuela, where students explored the city center, practiced their Spanish at the central market, and connected with local teenagers at a scientific/STEM high school and a progressive school. They even experienced their first heavy Costa Rican rain!

Next up was a 5-night homestay in Cedral, where they were welcomed with fresh juice and a lovely opening circle. The rest of the week was spent exploring Cedral, taking a spontaneous hike to a beautiful waterfall, and learning local recipes—including how to make the perfect tortillas!

A truly special experience with an amazing group of students. Trip 2 leaves today! Pura Vida!

One of the best days of the year on the K-8 campus! Talon Tales AND Teddy Bear Picnic!

The 2026 edition of Talon Tales (the K-8’s literary journal) made its debut at this morning’s All School Meeting, followed by Drop Everything and Read!

A giant thank you to Jocelyn Holland and all our volunteer editors and readers for all their hard work bringing this year’s edition to life! Congratulations to Sahara ‘32 and Avy ‘32 for having their work chosen for the cover art! Happy Talon Tales and Teddy Bear Picnic to all who celebrate!
