The application deadline for WAVE is January 9, 2026.

The KNI SURF-the-WAVE (STW) prize is open to WAVE fellows who are non-Caltech undergraduate students and who will pursue a nanoscience-related project during the summer. The STW prize supports a student's WAVE stipend; provides complimentary access to our multi-user nanofabrication facility, the KNI Laboratory; and offers several supplemental networking opportunities throughout the summer. Each year the KNI sponsors up to five successful applicants who pursue a nanoscience-related project with a Caltech faculty mentor. Learn more about the KNI SURF-the-WAVE Prize here: https://kni.caltech.edu/programs/kni-surf-the-wave-fellowships

In order to be considered for the STW prize, students must be from a non-Caltech college or university, intend to pursue a PhD, and meet the WAVE program requirements.

Kavli-Caltech Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship

Established in 2016, the Caltech Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship aims to diversify the future professoriate by supporting a diverse and inclusive postdoctoral community on campus.

Thanks to the generous support of the Kavli Foundation, postdocs working in nanoscience are eligible for 2 years of full
funding, up to $90,000/year.
