Altadena Nursery School ANS is a mixed-age, parent participation, developmental preschool serving children 2-5 years old. Hours: Monday thru Friday 9am-12pm.

Who We Are
ANS is a licensed, non-profit, non-sectarian, in*******al, cooperative nursery school in which each family shares in the school's planning and operations. ANS was started in 1950 by a small group of CalTech parents as a babysitting co-op and has grown into a nursery school that operates daily for up to 50 children from the ages of two to five years old. Since its beginning, ANS has made a unique and profound contribution to children and families of the Pasadena/Altadena community. Parent Participation
Since we are a cooperative school, parent participation is at the heart of our program. We believe mothers ad fathers have much to share with their children and with each other. ANS recognizes that parenting is a complex and dignified vocation in a society which increasingly seems to demean that role. Our school believes that parenting is a skill to be developed actively. Parents learn also that as you grow as a parent, you also grow as a person. Tuition
ANS strives to keep its tuition as low as possible to make the school accessible to families of many income levels. Parents work as a classroom assistants and perform all routine maintenance at the school in order to make this goal possible. Enrollment

Celebrate 75 Years of Altadena Nursery School! 🍊

It’s time for a reunion! We are thrilled to invite our entire community—past, present, and future—to the ANS Family Fest & Reunion on Saturday, May 2nd.

Join us at Camp Mariposa for an afternoon dedicated to the "messy and joyful" play-based learning that has defined ANS for generations. This event supports our capital campaign to secure a forever home for our school!

What to expect:
• Entertainment: Live music from Evan Ziegenmeyer & friends and the whimsical Davey B. Gravey's Tiny Cinema! 📽️
• Food & Drink: Tacos and More will be serving up lunch, and Playgrounds LA is pouring coffee and special orange-themed drinks. 🌮☕
• Activities: Games, crafts, and art for the kids!
• Giving: Participate in our auction and paddle raise to help build our future.
When: Saturday, May 2nd | 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

🍊The ANS has come to an end. We want to thank our customers and our school families for buying citruses and keeping this 74 year tradition alive. A big shout out to our Orange Sale co-chairs Danielle Christen and Alison Spieth Perrine who lead the charge and kept parents motivated to meet their goals. Thank you to all the amazing parents and children who helped to unload, sort, and delivered cases of fruit. We know it wasn’t an easy week, and your good humor and spirits made all the difference. 🧡
