Tomorrow, Team PCC will join United Way of Greater Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium for WalkUnitedLA 2026 in support of higher education and student success.
Ahead of tomorrowâs event, CBS LA highlighted the story of PCC student Ducien Allen, who shared his journey through homelessness, displacement following the Eaton Fire, and the support he received from PCC during some of the most difficult moments of his life.
We are incredibly proud of Ducien, who will be speaking at tomorrowâs event to share his story and the impact that support systems like PCC and United Way can have on students working toward a better future.
United Way of Greater Los Angeles continues to be a valued partner in PCCâs Skills to Rebuild Initiative, helping provide critical resources and financial support for our students and community.
Thank you to United Way and the Los Angeles Rams for shining a light on stories like Ducienâs and for supporting students across our region. đ

Donât forget, Pasadena City College will be closed on Monday, January 19th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

On Tuesday, January 20th at noon, we invite the campus community to attend âDr. Kingâs Legacy in Action: Justice, Advocacy and Collective Responsibilityâ. This panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Fanon Wilkins, will explore Dr. Kingâs lasting impact and the ongoing work of social justice in todayâs world. Panelists include Dr. Keith Williams, Professor Ariana Flores, Dr. Amy Tahani-Bidmeshki, Professor Francesca Chaboya, and Dr. Cristina Salazar-Romo. Light refreshments will be provided.

As we kick off a new year, we are proud to share that the State of California has officially designated Pasadena City College as a Black Serving Institution. This recognition honors PCCâs commitment to supporting Black student success through equity, access, and belonging.
This distinction, created through California Senate Bill 1348, recognizes colleges that demonstrate meaningful progress in retention, graduation, representation, and closing equity gaps for Black students. Being named a Black Serving Institution in the inaugural year reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, administrators, and community.
As we begin 2026 and welcome students back to campus, we remain committed to building pathways that center Black student voices, experiences, and success.
Hereâs to a strong start to Winter Session and an even stronger year ahead.
