📚 Our 2‑Year‑Olds’ Gentle After‑Lunch Ritual : Reading Time💛
Right after lunch, our little ones ease into one of the calmest, sweetest parts of their day — a quiet reading ritual that helps them transition smoothly toward nap time.
They gather with their teachers and reach for their favorite books from the Toddler Habits series — titles like Don’t Bite, Don’t Hit, and other simple stories that teach kindness, patience, and gentle behavior. Teachers read to them, and the children “read” right back, using the pictures to tell the story in their own words, pointing, naming, and proudly sharing what they recognize.
When their bodies begin to settle, each child moves to their own nap mattress. With a book still in hand, they quietly flip through pages, study the pictures, or whisper the story to themselves. This peaceful moment helps them wind down at their own pace.
Slowly, the room softens… pages stop turning… and one by one, they drift off to sleep independently.
It’s a small daily ritual, but it nurtures early literacy, self‑regulation, and a love for books — and parents love seeing their children grow through these gentle, meaningful routines.
