📊 Great things are happening at South Houston High School!

What happens when you take an AP Statistics Free Response Question and turn it into an opportunity for students to think, communicate, collaborate, and defend their statistical reasoning? You get an incredible learning experience! 📈👏

One of our amazing AP Statistics teachers challenged her students to respond to released AP Exam FRQs by creating posters that clearly communicated their solutions and reasoning. But she didn’t stop there…
She invited additional educators to serve as authentic scorers, giving students the opportunity to have their work reviewed through an AP-style lens and receive meaningful feedback.

Our High School Mathematics team was excited to join in, spending time with students’ work, scoring posters, and providing feedback. Even Ms. Stewart, the principal joined us in the experience! ❤️

This is what we love to see: students engaging with rigorous content, communicating their mathematical thinking, and receiving feedback from multiple educators—all while their teachers and administrators come together to support their success.

These moments may look like posters hanging in a hallway, but they represent something much bigger:

✨ Rigor with purpose.
✨ Students taking ownership of their learning.
✨ Teachers creating opportunities beyond traditional assignments.
✨ A school community invested in student success.

Hey Pasadena ISD Parents!!
Have you ever asked your teenager what they did in school today, and they respond with "I don't know" 🙋🏽‍♀️🤣

📚Well here is what they are learning in Algebra 1!
In Unit 1, Algebra 1 students are exploring linear equations and real-world relationships. Students are learning how mathematics can model everyday situations such as:

✅ Saving money for a goal
✅ Budgeting purchases
✅ Understanding constraints and limitations
✅ Connecting equations, tables, and graphs

Students are also learning how different combinations of values can satisfy the same equation and how graphs help us visualize these relationships. For example, if a student is saving for a trip, there may be many different ways to earn the same amount of money!

🏠 Have a Conversation with your kids!
Ask your child:"Can you think of a real-life situation where two different choices can lead to the same result?"

You can support their learning by encouraging your kids to explain how equations and graphs help solve everyday problems.
