Trying out some ideas.
How do you practice songs? Once I get familiar with a song and learn its foundation I like to practice ideas. Always makes an opportunity to practice improvisation, yes some things come out live while playing a song but practice new ideas when possible.

Here is a clip from my online lesson video series about passing chords. Adding some chord movement in a progression can be achievable with passing chords. One of them being the secondary dominant chord which is used in jazz and gospel music.
Using a dominant 7 chord can help you achieve that movement. This lesson, and many others, is available in my online community.

Going through some ideas for another random song, but also one of my favorites growing up as a young musician in the Apostolic church. Here are some ideas, mistakes and fun. I hope this encourages you to really study your instrument and give the glory to God. One of my non-negotiable with this season.
Adding some context to a previous post where I shared a passing chord called a diminished 7 chord. Per request I use it in a song so you can see and hear my placement of the passing chord.
If you want the chord diagram of this diminished 7 movement just comment “dim7” and I’ll send it to you! I hope it blesses!
Here is a small clip of me trying ideas to a song I’ve never played. It’s fun, challenging and scary all at once. You just never know what you might come up with. Should I post more of this one?
