CONGREGATION TONIGHT AT 7PM!! SEE YOU GUYS THERE :)
Fine Art Society
We create a space to form connections and community with artists inside and outside Art Center College of Design.
Hi everyone!
Last Tuesday meeting was incredibly productive in terms of getting to meet our new club members and then going on to discuss how last terms Fine Art Society Show went and how we make the club a more open and collective space for creatives to come together and make: art, conversation, ideas, events and so on.
With that being said, spread the word about Fine Art Society and encourage all of your friends from all majors to come and join us for discussions, gatherings, events and for the end of the term show!
The Fine Art Society is not solely exclusive to Fine Art students, as creatives - we know art travels in all directions and The Fine Art Society is the space where we can all come together.
With this in mind, due to the lack of organization, structure and community previous Fine Art Society shows and meetings had -we will be asking a little more from our members in terms of participation in order to exhibit your work in the show at the end of term. The Fine Art Society is more than showing off your work, it is about sharing your ideas and thoughts with like minded people and creating connections to help us grow further into our creative practice.
A few things we will be expecting:
1.) We would like to get committees going for installation and curating of the show. Talk to john about a prep and clean up crew for the show as well. Everyone should have designated jobs. similar to social engagement - everyone feels like they have contributed in some way. Please consider yourself for the position and how this will benefit you in terms of being able to visualize space and design through scale, color, material and mediums as a collective thought and teamwork experience. *Week 4 will be when we designate these positions, so you have time to decide till then*
2.) We will need members to be present during the meeting before the show in order to be exhibited. No show for the meeting = No show entirely. We need our members to be dedicated to the Society just as much as we want to put our work out into the world - since that is exactly what the Fine Society works toward in the end.
3.) With that being said - all who have work in the show MUST show up for the reception and stay there during the designated times of the show. The show is our last HOORAH! Why would you not want to celebrate all your hard work throughout the term and let loose with everyone for a great night of art, music, conversation, food and drinks!
Lastly, a lot of us at the meeting wanted to have events outside of school, so this Tuesday, May 30th, at 7pm - 8pm, we will be having a group gathering at Congregation (on South Raymond and Del Mar) to hangout and get to know each other a little better. This will be just the start of more gatherings like Pot-lucks, Screenings, Gallery openings, and possible workshops we will be putting together this term.
With all that being said, if we don't see you at Congregation next week - which I hope we do! - WEEK 4 we will meet again at 870 and ask of you to all consider yourself for any of the committee positions, as well as to bring in at least 1 theme for this up coming show and an example of your work that defines your creative voice to have a sense of how the show might be entirely.
Again - thank you to everyone that showed up last week. We are all very excited and we hope to see you all again and more next week at Congregation!
From the realest,
Izabella & John
