This semester our ELTN 115 and 117 students performed PCB layout and coding for digital clocks. It was a huge challenge teaching online, especially distributing the lab parts but they did it! Kudos to the students who stuck it out and finished their designs! Not only did the clocks show hours and minutes but also played the Westminster quarters and had working alarms. Here is one example:

Thomas Thoen: Electrifying Online Instruction – EWD Pulse

Great article about how our MVP electronics instructor, Tom Thoen, brought the lab to student homes when the campus closed in the Spring due to COVID-19. Professor Thoen has always been dedicated to ensuring student success in his classroom. Valuable reading for those interested in learning electronics and are wondering about how an online, lab-based class will work.

Thomas Thoen: Electrifying Online Instruction – EWD Pulse It’s no surprise that Professor Thomas Thoen, electronics instructor at Pasadena City College (PCC), is popular with his students. He’s been an avid fan of electronic gaming since childhood, and most of his students identify as ‘gamers,’ too. Thoen shares his natural affinity with his studen...
