The Academic Advisor will serve under the Student Support Services federal grant. Academic Advisors are responsible for providing advising, financial literacy and appropriate case management services to students. They create student learning plans, monitor student progress and document extensively. The TRIO Student Support Services program is 100% funded by a grant from the Department of Education.

Required Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an associate’s degree in health science, advising or case management experience in a community college setting is preferred.

Excellent benefits such as vacation, sick leave, paid LCC tuition for employees and dependents, Kansas Public Employment Retirement System (KPERS), KPERS 457, 403B with matching plan, and the State Plan of Kansas insurances that includes medical, dental, and vision for employee and family. Supplemental insurances are also offered. The salary is based on experience and is to begin at $36,102 annual. This is an salaried position.

LCC students — the Founders Day Scholarship online entry is now open! 🎓

As part of the 4th Annual Founders Day Celebration, the LCC Foundation will award two $500 scholarships — one through an online drawing and one during the in-person event.

💻 Online drawing: Open now. Winner announced at 3 p.m. on September 15. You do not need to be present to win.

🎉 In-person drawing: Attend Founders Day on Tuesday, September 15 from 12:30–1:30 p.m. in the Cardinal Event Center for an additional opportunity to enter. You must be present to win.

Students may enter both drawings, but may only receive one scholarship. Students still in high school are not eligible.

As a new academic year gets underway at Labette Community College, the LCC Foundation & Alumni Association is celebrating a special milestone of its own!

Executive Director Lindi Forbes recently received her 25-year service pin from LCC, recognizing a quarter century of service to the College and its students.

Over those 25 years, Lindi has had the opportunity to work alongside countless donors, alumni, volunteers, board members, colleagues and friends who share a commitment to helping LCC students succeed. Through scholarships, fundraising, alumni engagement and other Foundation initiatives, that collective generosity has helped create opportunities and change lives.

“Reaching 25 years has given me a chance to reflect on just how fortunate I’ve been to do work that I truly believe in. There is no better way to change a person’s life than through education, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey.”

Here's to the students beginning their own LCC journeys this fall and to many more lives changed through education!

Day three of Welcome Week is in the books, topped off with free snow cones, Labette Cardinals cups and a little game time between classes. Thursday will finish out the first week of the fall semester with an evening Parking Lot Party at 7 p.m. All students are invited to come for the fun, food, music and prizes. We look forward to seeing you there.
