Challenge the Art Teacher!
I'm offering my senior high school art students a chance to challenge me, the art teacher, by creating art for the public to like and comment on, counting towards a vote for bragging rights. Students controlled the theme, style, medium, and additional requirements we followed. This fantasy-themed challenge was restricted to characters and pencil medium, with artist-choice style and no backgrounds allowed. Each artwork was given a letter for fairness between my two senior artists and me, with results revealed on Friday. Please like and comment on your favorite drawings! 😊
Let me tell you am always amazed by my Viking Seniors and their artistic abilities because they grown a lot. I wish they would stay just little longer with me in art class, but we have grown and learn a lot together! ❤️

In my capacity as an art teacher, I strive to gently nudge my students toward exploring uncharted creative territories, which inevitably entails confronting obstacles and risking potential failure. Nonetheless, with a willingness to experiment, adapt, and trust in their abilities, students can accomplish feats they previously thought unattainable. The mantra “But a dragon doesn’t fear the fight, it embraces the glory of the victory” resonates deeply in this context. One of my exceptional senior students has taken on the challenge of crafting 2D templates of dragon head parts and integrating them to form a 3D model, showcasing remarkable artistic talent and perseverance. I am eager to see the continued development of this impressive project and marvel at the outcome.

Ceramic II students were tasked with creating a ceramic piece that focused on scaling up. Their pieces had to be at least 12 inches in height or width, a choice they had. Students applied techniques to ensure stability in large-scale, heavy, or tall forms while utilizing various advanced hand-building techniques and controlling drying speeds to prevent cracks and warps. This piece is glorious with all the details and elements that showcase my student’s creative mindset. We are only scratching the surface of what she is capable of and can’t wait to see the artist she
will become.

New Ceramic Project for Ceramics II✨ “Artist Research Ceramic” takes on a fresh spin with a “Social Media Project” twist. Ceramic II students embarked on an empowering journey of independence from the start of the spring semester. They were tasked with researching a renowned ceramic artist, either from the past or a contemporary social media influencer. One student took on the challenge of creating something entirely new, combining two vessels into a single, breathtaking piece. The result is a vibrant, reclaimed clay and glaze masterpiece that showcases the student's creativity. The anticipation is building for the final touches to be added to the flowers, elevating them against the bright yellow backdrop. Can't wait to see the finished product!❤️💛

2025 Recap! ⭐️
This year has been a truly remarkable experience, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. As an art teacher for 6th-12th grade students this school year, I have had an incredible year of growth and discovery. Teaching art to these students has been an absolute delight, from creating beautiful artwork, sharing laughter, impromptu art karaoke, dancing breaks, to students assisting me in the art room, establishing an art club, build an art program for my students that they can take pride in and eagerly return to learn more about art! ❤️
I have cherished every moment with my PK Viking Art Students and can’t want to see what 2026 brings for my students and I! 💛💙🎨
