Dear Kindergarten,
Be gentle with our little ones—this whole school thing still feels so big when they still feel so little.
Please help them walk through those doors feeling brave, even when there are tears at drop-off and their tiny hand doesn’t quite want to let go of ours.
Please guide them toward friends who are kind, who ask them to play, who sit beside them at snack, and who make them feel like they belong.
Please remind them that it’s okay if they don’t know all their letters yet, if writing their name takes a little extra time, or if sitting still and listening all day feels really hard.
Please give them teachers who see beyond what they can do on paper—
who notice their big hearts,
their silly personalities,
their curiosity,
and all the little things that make them them.
Please keep them talking to us—
about who they played with,
what they built,
what made them laugh,
what made them sad,
and every tiny detail of their day that still feels so important.
And above all else, please protect them this year
and give us the strength to let them take this first big step—
even when a part of us wishes
we could keep them little forever. 🥹
