Attention K-4 Parents: If you are dropping off or picking up your child at the main entrance, please enter campus by turning onto Engle St. from Main Drive only.

➡️ Turn onto campus by the playground and PEMS sign.

Please do NOT use Cohn St. to access Engle St. This route will bring you to the back of campus and into bus traffic, which can cause delays for our school buses arriving from Cordova High School and Oakman High School.

Please note: This reminder only applies to K-4 students who use the main entrance car line for arrival and dismissal. Middle School (5-8) car riders will continue to dismiss in the normal manner.

We want to take the time to recognize and congratulate Dr. Kyzer and his 10 incredible years of leadership at Parrish Elementary Middle School as he begins an exciting new chapter as Professor of Educational Leadership at Mississippi State University.

Prior to leading PEMS, Dr. Kyzer spent 10 years in the classroom as an educator and served 5 years as Assistant Principal at Curry Middle School. For the past decade, he has led PEMS with that same dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to our students, faculty, staff, and community. We are so grateful for his years of service, his vision, and the countless ways he has helped make PEMS the school it is today.

While he will certainly be missed in our hallways and classrooms, we are excited to see all that he will accomplish in his new role. Once a Tornado, always a Tornado! 🌪️

“As I close this chapter after 10 wonderful years as principal of PEMS, I want to wish our faculty, staff, students, and families nothing but the very best.

Serving as your principal has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together, and I know PEMS is in good hands with the best faculty and staff around.

While I may be stepping away from the principal’s office, I’m not going far in spirit. I will always be a Tornado and will continue cheering for PEMS, our students, and this incredible school community every step of the way.” 💜🌪️

I spy the PEMS lunch crew! 🌪️ We have the best cafeteria staff. 💜

👩‍🍳 🍎 Summer learning was on the menu for members of our Child Nutrition team. Several of our lunchroom employees took advantage of the opportunity to attend Chef Ann Foundation Culinary Training, where they sharpened their cooking skills, tried new recipes, explored new techniques, and gained hands-on experience in the kitchen. 🔪 🥕 🍽️

👏 A big shoutout to team members from Dora High School, Oakman Elementary School & Oakman Middle School, and Parrish Elementary/Middle School Tornadoes for investing in their skills and bringing fresh ideas back to our school kitchens. We can’t wait to see what they cook up this school year. 🌟 👩‍🍳 ❤️
