From 1943 to 1952, the Parkville community hosted an independent library at 8904 Harford Road and subsequently in the basement of St Ursula's Church. When that library closed, BCPL began providing library service to the community via bookmobile. On July 6, 1961 the Parkville Branch opened in rented quarters at 9221 Harford Road.
