First forest adventure in a while, and it was so fun. My friends balanced all over different logs. We tossed a few sticks into the creek before we made our way to the fort. At the fort, we read a couple books, beaded some bracelets, and had snacks. Some of our charms were compasses, so we discussed the directions. Pointing to North, East, West, and South. Big sister then said, "when we left the trail to the fort, we walked West." She was correct! We made our way to Mulch mountain and gravel mountain. The girls had so much fun working together digging & burying wood pieces in the gravel. We continued hiking, found good walking sticks on the way to the waterfalls. It was funny, they kept saying they had never been on this trail, but really, we were hiking counterclockwise on the trails instead of clockwise. It was a nice hike, sun was shining, and still a little chill to the air.
I look forward to our next forest adventure.

My backpack, hat, and boots have been collecting dust. We miss you and the forest adventures. I'm so sorry I've been MIA lately, but unfortunately I was hit with a nasty illness and it has taken a few weeks out of me. I'm slowly beginning to feel human again, and now I'm working on rebuilding my strength. I hope when I'm all better and the Temps continue to rise, we will all join together and explore the forest again. Thank you all for your patience and support and love.

Such a fun forest adventure with a wonderful family. Definitely doesn't feel like winter, my friend even asked where were all the flowers, because it's warmish. Our adventure took us around the park, where we tossed leaves into the creek, hugged trees, listened to the water, squished along muddy trails, climbed gravel mountains, discovered different mushrooms, jumped the creek, crossed bridges, until we got to the fort. We all enjoyed the fort. Adding a few more sticks to the structure and dreaming of building more forts.

I'm often asked if parents or family members can join along on our forest adventures, and as always the answer is YES! It is so fun to watch families create these core memories together.

Brrrr....cold front came through during our forest adventure. When we started off into the woods it was drizzling and around 50°, but by the end, it was 38° with a below freezing windchill. These 4 friends were TROOPERS! They were all so full of awesome stories, and were in great moods. One friend kept singing about how much he loves hiking. Then when they saw the big steps on the way to the shelter, one friend said, "miss Martha, you're a great guide. It was where you said it would be." Then they all chimed in saying how great of a guide I am at guiding hikes. It was so sweet to hear. We saw tree holes, hungry tree, the waterfall, Berries, and mud. At the shelter, we warmed up with hot cocoa and snacks. We all started to get a little chillled, so I called it. I let the parents know we are going to hike back early. No one wants to hike if they're cold & bummed, so we packed up and hiked to the front of the park. As much as I hate cutting the adventure a little short, we want the children to have awesome experiences. It was such a fun hike, we did 1.25 miles, the children chose the directions to take, and got to have sensory filled experiences.

It's a wild, foggy, damp, warmish-coolish christmas eve. We quickly learned that the fog and humidity made everything kind of slippery. We had to be more mindful with our steps. They knew if the log was green, it will probably be slippery. Today, my friends decided to take a different route. We balanced and rocked on logs. We got to feel how some logs were really soft as they were biodegrating. We made our way to the fort. It's always different, every time we visit. Today we move wood that had fallen and was blocking the doorway. Inside, we read a book, snacked a little, and Big Sis insisted that I take a photo of her and Little Sis on the big log. As we were about to make our way to the shelter, my friend points through the forest and says she thinks she sees an eagle. Pointing to a fallen tree, so we hiked through the woods to investigate. The splintered wood did look like a bald eagle! At the shelter, we decorated ornaments for their trees, drank hot cocoa, and read about Autumn transitioning to Winter. We started back on the trail to go meet up with their parents, but first we had to stop to climb the fun sycamore tree.

The year end review & reflection. We have had so many fun forest adventures. Climbed many trails, made new friends, hugged & climbed many trees. Endless discoveries and countless wonders. We had STEAM nights, trunk or treats, guided hikes for Parkville, field trips, and the annual Ghost Stories event.

Thank you all for the support through the year. We look forward to many new adventures in 2026.
