FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH — MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

Our Fall Festival is coming up, and this year we have A LOT going on!

FALL FESTIVAL: 6:00–8:00 PM at the Armory

We’ll have:

FREE GAMES in the MPR
FREE CARAMEL APPLES
WALKING TACOS $6
INFLATABLES — $10 wristband
COFFEE TRUCK outside from 4:00–8:00 PM
and, of course…

OUR BIG AUCTION FROM 6:00–7:45 PM!

The auction is already shaping up to be a GOOD one. Students are putting together their baskets, families are donating items, and we have some pretty amazing things coming in.

Here’s just a little sneak peek:

Handmade Fall Decorations
Custom-Painted Side Table with a sunflower and decor
Stand-Up Paddleboard + 2 Chairs + Blanket Donated by commercial club

And then we have something BRAND NEW this year…

TWO DESIGNATED FAMILY PARKING SPOTS!

We are auctioning off two parking spots for the entire year.

One will be a family's designated spot by the football field. Great for football games, track meets!

The other will be a family's designated spot by the Armory. Great for all Volleyball, basketball, wrestling, cheer .... and any other event when you need quick access to the armory!

That's right — your own spot for the entire year!!! With a sign holding that spot with your name on it!
No getting to the game super early. No driving around looking for a spot. No wondering where you're going to park. You pull in. Your spot is waiting for you.
I have a feeling these are going to be HOT items!

And this is only the beginning. More baskets are being put together, more homemade items are coming in, and there are still plenty of surprises to come.

So come out Friday night, grab a walking taco, get a coffee, enjoy the free games and caramel apples, let the kids hit the inflatables, and get ready to BID!

We are starting a youth boys' running club called Pathfinders! It is open to boys in grade 3-6. We will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings either at the track or the East Park. Informational flyers will be sent home with students today. You will also see the information in the Daily Data.

**We are also seeking MENTORS! All middle school and high school boys are encouraged to reach out and see if they'd be able to mentor the elementary boys! If you need volunteer hours or looking to sharpen up a resume or college application, this is perfect for you! We all know how much elementary kids look up to the older kids!

The Ethan Parkston XC Team had their first meet in Beresford yesterday! There were 26 teams and almost every race had over 100 kids running! Congrats to the following who medaled by placing in the Top 20!

Girls JV-
Emma Perry – 4th
Nora Shepardson – 6th
Sadie Mueller – 11th
Macie Dean – 13th
Emmy Christensen – 19th
Finished 2nd overall as a team!!!!

Boys JV
Drew Mellegaard – 20th
Boys Middle School
Louie Knippling – 16th

The Girls Middle School Team finished 4th overall!!!
The Boys Middle School Team finished 10th overall!!!

Next action is Friday, Sept.4, at the Augie Twilight in Sioux Falls.

FALL FESTIVAL IS COMING!

Mark your calendars for Friday, September 11th and come out to the Parkston Armory from 6–8 PM for the 5th Annual Fall Festival!

This is one of those nights that is just about getting our community together, having some fun, and supporting our kids. We’ll have free carnival games, music, $6 walking tacos, a coffee truck 4:30-8, ticket auction prizes, door prizes, and a $10 Kids Zone with inflatables by TNT Inflatables. There will be something for everyone!

The PHS Junior Class has been working hard to put this event together, and all funds raised will help support Prom 2026 and graduation expenses for the Class of 2028.

Bring the kids, bring your family, bring your friends and come spend the evening with us. We’d love to see a great crowd!

401 CREATE + PARKSTON ART CLUB

EXCITING NEW MONTHLY ART OPPORTUNITIES!

We are excited to team up with 401 Create to offer a FREE, once-a-month after-school art club for students in Grades 2–8!

Each month, volunteers from the LifeQuest community will bring a new art project and teach the class. The instructors will change from month to month depending on schedules and availability.

All art supplies will be provided! We will simply provide the space — the Parkston Elementary Art Room.

WHEN?

Once a month 3:30–4:45 PM Parkston Elementary Art Room - may run a bot later with clean up, but please be on time to pick up students!

WHO?

Students in Grades 2–8

SPACE IS LIMITED!

Each class can accommodate up to 15 students.

Because we have limited spots, students will participate on a rotating basis. Our goal is to give as many students as possible the opportunity to participate throughout the year.

You may not be selected for every month’s class. Selection will depend on the number of students who sign up, availability, and whether students are able to attend their assigned month. I will send out letters once I get all forms back and see how many we have signed up! I will get dates on

We will provide the upcoming dates and do our best to get project information and assignments out early.

IMPORTANT DISMISSAL INFORMATION

Students must be signed out from the Art Room at the end of each class.

Students may NOT simply meet parents in the parking lot.

Parents/guardians who are picking up their student will need to come to the Art Room to sign them out.

Students who have permission to walk or ride their bike home will be signed out when they leave the building, and the departure time will be recorded so we can help ensure everyone gets home safely.

👟 NEED A LITTLE EXTRA HELP WITH SCHOOL SHOES THIS YEAR? 👟

We are so excited to share an amazing opportunity for Parkston students! 💙🧡

The Parkston Salem Lutheran Women and the Trojan Den are “pairing” up on a mission to help make sure students who need new shoes have them before the snow flies!
Paper forms are due this FRIDAY!! available in both offices or see Mrs. Mette!

Through this partnership, the goal is to provide students with:
👟 A brand-new pair of tennis shoes
🧦 A new pair of socks
🥾 A new pair of snow boots, if needed

The tennis shoes will be purchased by the committee, and requests will be handled confidentially.

We especially want to give a HUGE thank you to Nancy and the wonderful Lutheran ladies for seeing a need in our school and partnering with the Trojan Den to help meet it. This is exactly what community is about—coming together to make sure our kids have what they need to learn, participate and feel confident at school. ❤️

FOR FAMILIES WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM:
👉 Forms are DUE THIS FRIDAY, AUGUST 28!
Forms can be turned in to your classroom teacher or the school office.

If your student needs a new pair of tennis shoes, socks and/or snow boots, please don't hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity. There is absolutely no shame in asking for a little help—this is why we have the Trojan Den and why we are so grateful for community partners like the Salem Lutheran Women.
