’Tis the season for baking cookies! Get baking with your little ones and try out one of these decorating tips for extra special treats.
🍪 Use marshmallows as icing — add a few mini marshmallows to your cookies and pop them into the oven just until the marshmallows melt.
🍪 Press pasta into your dough! Pull out the penne and press the end of it onto your cookies for a cool petal design. Or try bow ties for a fancy treat.
🍪 Take a whisk, dip it into food coloring (or powdered drink mixes) and then press the whisk into your dough for a colorful star design.
What’s your favorite way to decorate cookies?

As a parent, you’re likely used to your child asking questions. In fact, according to a recent study conducted by OnePoll and The Goddard School®, Parents field an average of 11 questions from their young children each day. Children most commonly ask questions to better understand the world around them, such as asking about animals, nature, current events and home experiences.

Save money on expensive Halloween costumes by making your own! You just need materials you likely already have at home.

👻 Blocks
Paint a large cardboard box in your child’s favorite color. Cut holes for their head and arms. Then glue plastic or Styrofoam cups to the front of the box and you’ve created your own building block!
👻 Crayon
Dress your child in their favorite color from head to toe. Then buy a party hat in a matching color (or make your own using construction paper) and your child is transformed into their favorite color crayon.
👻 Marathon runner
Is your toddler’s favorite pastime running? Dress them up in their comfiest running outfit and then print out a number to stick on their shirt — now they’re ready to run a candy marathon.
👻 Race car (or any wheeled vehicle)
Transform cardboard boxes into something with wheels! The best thing about “boxtumes” is they’re adaptable, which means you can make them to fit your child’s physical needs.

Share a picture of your child’s costume in the comments!

Finding the right words to talk about mental health with your child can sometimes feel impossible. Luckily, these books are here to help! This Mental Health Week, teach your child to celebrate emotions through the power of story. Not only is it fun, but it’ll help you both feel prepared to tackle this topic together.

📕Ages 0-2: The Feelings Book by Todd Parr goes beyond labeling emotions. In bold color, it teaches children that it’s OK to be in their feelings — even when feelings change fast or don’t make sense.
📗 Ages 3-6: Out of a Jar by Deborah Marcero tells the tale of Llewellyn, who stashes his feelings in jars. But what happens when his emotions refuse to be locked away?
