When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father – the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father – he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning. John 15:26–27.

Great God and Savior, you want to lead us by the hand so that in communion with you we learn how to live a true life. We thank you for everything we have already received. Guide us still, we pray. Through your Spirit lead us in all areas of our life. Grant us the Spirit, who can illumine our hearts to help us find new courage and new strength and new recognition of the truth. All our praise belongs to you, for you alone can quicken us. You alone free us from the pain of death and from all burdens, so that in spite of toil and struggle we may always be lifted up to you, our God on high, to the glory of your name on earth. Amen

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways. This is the very word of the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8–9.

Lord our God, we thank you for allowing us to come to you and to stand before your face. We thank you for helping us throughout our life on earth, for strengthening our faith in you and our trust in all you do. Bless us and give us courage. May your light shine out among the peoples so that they recognize your will. May your light shine out so that your name may be praised and we can rejoice in the new time you give us. For you will be at work and you will accomplish it. Even when we do not know what will become of our time, you know what our time needs, and you will carry out your will. You will let your name be honored. You will bring your kingdom, and you will change everything for the good. Amen

This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time," declares the Lord. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the Lord. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." Jeremiah 31:33–34.

Lord our God, we hope in you. One thing never leaves our hearts, your promise that you will be our God, our God in Jesus Christ. This stands firm, and we want to hold to it in trust and confidence. For your Word remains sure, and all your works lead toward a great and wonderful time when you will be glorified, when our hearts can at last become free because we know you. We can become free from all our own works, free from all trembling and hesitation, free from all suffering and distress, because we know that you, O God, are our Father. Amen.

💙 ✝️ Growing in Faith. Growing in Virtue.

This year at Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School, we are placing a special focus on Catholic virtues. These are lessons we hope will stay with our students long after they have left our care.

Each month, we will focus on a different virtue, using our mascot, the CRUSADER, as our inspiration.

Our first virtue is C — Compassion. 💙

Along with our monthly virtue, we are recognizing a Crusader Saint of the Week—a student who demonstrates what it means to follow Jesus through their words and actions.

We are so proud of our Crusader Saints from our first two weeks! 🌟 These students are wonderful examples of compassion and of putting their faith into action each day.

Our goal is about so much more than what our students learn in the classroom. We want to help form young people who lead with faith, kindness, compassion, and love for others.

Congratulations to our first Crusader Saints!

Today, PCES came together to honor and remember those who lost their lives in the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Our students and staff wore red, white, and blue as a symbol of remembrance and unity, and we gathered together in prayer to honor the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragic day.

We will always remember. 🇺🇸

Today, our school community came together for a special prayer service. We are grateful to our students who thoughtfully participated by reading the prayers and helping make the service meaningful and prayerful.

We were also honored to have Mr. Greg Garvin perform **Taps**, providing a beautiful and moving moment of reflection and remembrance.

A special thank you to Mr. Vierheller for organizing this meaningful prayer service and for helping bring our school community together in prayer.

We are thankful for the opportunity to pause, reflect, and pray together as a community. 🙏🇺🇸

Heavenly Father,
we come before You with humble hearts as we remember the events of September 11, 2001, and the lives forever changed that day.

We pray for all those who lost their lives. Welcome them into Your eternal kingdom and grant them everlasting peace. We pray especially for the first responders, firefighters, police officers, military members, and all who courageously served and sacrificed to help others.

Comfort the families and loved ones who continue to carry the pain of loss. Give them strength, peace, and the assurance that their loved ones are remembered and never forgotten.

Lord, help us to remember not only the sorrow of that day, but also the courage, compassion, and unity that followed. Teach us to reject hatred and violence and to choose instead the path of love, forgiveness, service, and peace.

May we honor the memory of those we lost by caring for one another and by working together to build a world rooted in dignity, hope, and peace.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

**Amen.**

After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53:11.

Lord our God, our Father in heaven, we thank you for letting our failures and sins come before you and for giving us One who steps in to help us just as we are, with the right help for the good and the evil things in our lives. We thank you that our whole age can be comforted, and even the terrors of our days can be turned to the good because everything has already come before your holy eyes. Salvation will come out of disaster, life out of death. Praise to your glorious and almighty name! Protect our faith in your Servant. May we always find strength and courage, even when we are in pain. The time is coming when your loving-kindness will be revealed among all nations on earth. Amen
