Description:
The GEMS course helps EMS practitioners learn to conduct a comprehensive assessment of geriatric patients. Be-cause the aging process affects all body systems, NAEMT’s course provides an overview of changes that occur as people age and describes how those changes
can impact patient pre-sentation. Incorporation of the GEMS Diamond (Geriatric, Environmental, Medical, and Social assessments) can help practitioners formulate a holistic diagnostic and treatment approach. The 8-hour course is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, emergency medical responders, nurses, physician assistants and physicians. GEMS is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT.

There will be an additional $10.00 charge for the course to cover the cost of the cards

WVPST, in partnership with Wood County Fire School, is pleased to announce a Prioritizing the Search course by Citizens First Fire Training for August 13 & 14, 2022 from 9-5 each day. The current schedule with registration numbers are listed below.

Description: Prioritize the Search is a realistic fire environment that promotes a mission first mentality to decrease civilian fire fatalities and maintaining an aggressive mindset. We examine search statistics ,forcible entry, search techniques, locating victims and making the grab. You cannot perform adequately if you do not prepare properly. We will spend the first half of the class building foundational knowledge and maximize reps for each student. You could say we are breaking down the basics and growing our abilities. The second half of the class is where the heat will be turned on. Literally. This portion will be real world scenarios that will challenge students to push themselves to their limits. The goal is to provide so much information, reps, skill, and knowledge that when returning to their departments, they can pass on the knowledge to make the difference in decreasing civilian fire fatalities. The whole purpose of our job, right? Students will perform forcible entry, the 10% search and primary searches locating/removing victims in zero visibility conditions. Students will encounter different floor surfaces and techniques that will make them successful in each scenario. Only question left to ask. Are you ready to dive in?

Instructor Bio: Chris Kessinger has been a student of the craft for 17 years, currently holding the role of Lieutenant with the City of Lebanon Division of Fire. Chris serves as the lead instructor and owner of Citizens First Fire Training in addition to the role of training officer/instructor for numerous schools, training facilities and departments. Chris has a deep passion for this job and making sure that the blue-collar traditions of our foundation stay alive and well. As an active member for the Central Ohio Fools chapter, Chris is able to continually spread those traditions and keep our service headed in the right direction. His passion, that one thing on the job that drives his soul will always be with truck company operations. Be aggressive in throwing ladders, aggressive in ventilation but most of all be aggressive in LOVING the job! Those core values are what Chris lives by. Chris is a nobody from nowhere that just loves the job and spreading the passion everywhere he goes. Our citizens are number 1 priority, anything other than that is simply unacceptable.
