Meet PORi Pelvic Cancer & Lower Extremity Rehabilitation instructor Amy Sides, PT, DPT, CLT-LANA.

Amy has been a physical therapist for 25 years and has specialized in oncology rehabilitation for the past 15, bringing with her a strong background in pelvic health.

When Amy first began working with people affected by cancer, referrals were often for lymphedema. But she quickly realized that lymphedema was only part of the picture.

Her patients were experiencing a much broader range of functional challenges related to cancer and its treatment - and that realization helped shape her passion for comprehensive oncology rehabilitation.

Today, Amy brings that experience and perspective to her clinical practice and to her teaching with PORi.

We're excited to have Amy teaching our upcoming PORi CORE: Pelvic & Lower Extremity Cancer Rehabilitation starting on November 12th.

“Lymphedema was only part of the picture.”

After 25 years as a physical therapist - and 15 years specializing in oncology rehabilitation - PORi instructor Amy Sides has seen firsthand how the needs of people affected by cancer can extend far beyond the reason for their initial referral.

Meet Amy and hear what helped shape her approach to oncology rehabilitation.

Could oncology rehabilitation be for you?

Julia’s advice to clinicians is simple:

“Find what you love to do - and then treat the oncology population with what you love to do.”

Whether your passion is helping people move, communicate, return to work, exercise, regain independence or simply get back to the things that matter most to them, there is a place for your skills in oncology rehabilitation.

You don’t have to become a completely different therapist. You can take what you already love about your profession and learn how to apply it safely and effectively to people affected by cancer.

💙 Could oncology rehabilitation be the next step in your clinical journey?

Building an oncology rehabilitation program can feel overwhelming - especially when you’re trying to create change without the support you need.

Julia Osborne’s #1 recommendation? Find a physician champion. Great oncology rehabilitation programs aren’t built by one person. They’re built through collaboration.

Earlier access to oncology rehabilitation starts with earlier recognition and referral. The more rehabilitation is recognized as an integral part of cancer care, the more opportunity we have to connect patients with the support they need.

Improved rehab access = improved cancer care.

Bring the PORi patient lab experience to your facility.

PORi Facility-Hosted Patient Labs give your team the opportunity to take what they've learned in PORi coursework and apply it in a hands-on clinical environment - right at your own facility.

Working with real patients, clinicians can build confidence, refine their skills, and learn alongside their colleagues with guidance from experienced PORi instructors.

Hosting a lab can also be a great way to invest in your team while helping build a stronger, more consistent approach to oncology rehabilitation across your organization.
