New laws get better and better /sarcasm!

Not only will the classes be longer and more expensive. I have a feeling people like me will no longer be as available as we once were. I have taught students all over Colorado. But reading more into verifying instructors, most counties have one thing in common (besides the $100 FEE per county!): "The instructor’s principal place of fi****ms training must be located in XYZ County."

Guess after July 1, all my classes will only be for Douglas County residents, unless I am seriously misunderstanding something. Time will tell.

Another reason to take a class (preferably with me ha) before July 1, 2025!

If you've been thinking about getting your Conceal Carry Permit, now is the time! Starting on July 1st, 2025 the training requirements will be much more stringent, and expensive.

- Instead of my 3-4 hour course, it must be a minimum of 8 hours. NO change in my material, just forcing us to drag it on...
- You will have to take a written exam and pass with at least 80% and live fire hitting 35/50 rounds. This was optional before for students with experience, and available to students with no experience. No longer optional after July 1. More money...
- Renewing permit: class was good for 10 years. Now it is only good until your permit expires (5 years) and you must take a 2 hour refresher course. Another written test and another live fire test. More money...

Am I in favor of additional training? Yes! But this isn't it. Additional training would be optional classes beyond basic training. All this does is add more costs to people who want to protect themselves. I have to double class length, which will add costs to the student. The student also has to take classes more often, and fire more rounds adding costs to them.

Hurry and get your permit before July 1 for a more affordable start. After that, it will be more expensive and time consuming.

Starting July 1, 2025, my classes will be expanded to accommodate the new CCW laws in Colorado. Patting myself on the back, all of the additional classroom instruction that was added - I already taught!
