RVU students put their research presentation skills into practice during the 3rd annual Spring Research Day across all three campuses.

Students presented more than 70 posters at RVU-MT and approximately 80 posters each at RVU-CO and RVU-UT, sharing research projects with faculty, staff, and fellow students.

One featured project explored the use of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) as a treatment for anxiety. Student researcher Kelsey Lacy, OMS-III, and her team developed a clinical trial focused on affordable, accessible, and non-pharmacologic treatment options. Read more here: https://bit.ly/4dLh8nU

More than 450 students and faculty recently gathered at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts for the annual RVU Gala—a longstanding tradition focused on wellness, community, and celebrating the medical school journey.

Hosted by the Student Government Association and Wellness Committee, the event brought together students from every class year for an evening of connection and recognition during one of the busiest points of the academic year. As third- and fourth-year students prepare to close out another chapter of their training, the gala offered an opportunity for classmates and faculty to reconnect, recharge, and reflect on the importance of community support in medicine.

The evening also honored this year’s award recipients, recognizing outstanding students and faculty for their contributions to the SGU community. Congratulations to all of our Students of the Year, Faculty of the Year, and additional award winners!

Rocky Vista University - Colorado Campus students in the Rural Roots program recently wrapped up a year of outreach with Rural Med Day, a culminating event after engagement with 10 rural high schools.

Throughout the year, student volunteers commit to two presentations per semester, introducing high school students to the full spectrum of healthcare careers.

This year, 35 students from five schools attended, nearly doubling last year’s turnout. From campus and anatomy lab tours to hands-on stations in the SIMS lab, participants explored what a future in healthcare could look like and left feeling more interested in pursuing medical careers than when they first connected with the program.

The group’s outgoing leaders, DO students Allie Hernandez and Jessica Craig shared, "Serving rural and underserved communities is at the core of why RVU exists. Rural Roots is our way of living out that mission as students."

RVU students and faculty recently partnered with the Christian Medical & Dental Associations and Global Health Outreach for a medical service trip in Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Honduras.

Over four and a half days, the team served 1,454 patients through medical care, dental treatments, vision support, and community health initiatives. RVU students also assisted with patient assessments and provided osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).

Dr. Ping Huang, Education Learning Specialist, played a key role in coordinating approximately 40 student interpreters from a local bilingual school, supporting patient flow operations, and leading water filter demonstrations to promote sustainable community health practices.
