Ponderosa Mustang Wrestling

Ponderosa Mustang Wrestling Ponderosa Mustang Wrestling Ponderosa High School was opened in 1983. By 1994, Ponderosa was a state top 10 team.

Since Tim Ottmann took over the Ponderosa Wrestling Program in 1990, Ponderosa has had a strong tradition of building successful wrestlers at both the state and national levels. In 1995 and 1996 the team finished as state runners-up. Under Tim Ottmann Ponderosa won 8 team state titles, including a state-record tying 6 consecutive titles leading into the 2008-2009 season, and back-to-back state titles in 1997/1998. In that same time Ponderosa wrestlers won 25 individual state championships and placed in the top 6 at the state tournament 96 times. In 2009, under Head Coach Corey McNellis, the Mustangs won their 9th overall and state-record setting 7th consecutive state championship. Then in 2010 Ponderosa extended the State Championship streak by winning its 8th consecutive title. Senior Jacob Snider became the 16th wrestler in the history of Colorado HS wrestling to win 4 state titles. He also became only the 2nd Colorado wrestler ever to win 4 team titles to match his 4 individual titles (Kevin Barth, Holly HS, 1977-1980). The Mustangs are undefeated in league competition since 1994 and have won 18 consecutive league titles.

The mustangs were in action this weekend at the prestigious Ironman tournament and at the Standley Lake duals. Congratulations to Ty Eise for placing 4th at Ironman and the team placing 3rd at Standley lake. Onto next week with lots to build on. Black out Dual and Reno TOC coming up! Proud of this team and their grit!
