On Aug. 25, the DCSD Board of Education voted to place a Mill Levy Override (MLO) option for taxpayers on the November ballot.
In this episode of the DCSD Notebook Podcast, Superintendent Erin Kane explains why district staff recommended the MLO, how DCSD measures transparency and return on investment, and the areas where additional funding could support students and schools, including:
• Attracting and retaining high-quality teachers and staff
• Supporting the increasing costs of school security
• Reducing waitlists for Career and Technical Education programs, including the trades
• Restoring student programming, such as elementary instrumental music

We have had a great first week of school! We started off with the staff going through the Teacher Believed In Me Training through the Leader in Me and then we got to welcome back all of our students and families. We said good bye to our 5th graders today at their continuation. We had the privilege of listening to former LPE students and PHS graduates share how leadership shaped what they did in middle school and high school. Three 5th graders shared how they are leaving their legacy and the 5th Grade Legacy Tiles were unveiled! Good luck 5th Grade we know you are off to do great things!
