My name is Dori (like the fish), and I am so excited for the opportunity to work with your child! I am a native Texan, but I've lived in Colorado for over 20 years. I have been happily married for over 25 years, and we have 3 amazing children. I have an elementary education degree from BYU, and I taught 4th/5th grades for 4 years in the Cherry Creek School District. I stopped teaching in 2000 to start my family. After our youngest kiddo started second grade in 2014, I began substitute teaching in the Douglas County School District, grades K-6. I was a substitute teacher for 5 years. As the owner of Step to Success Tutoring Center, I would like to thank you for your interest in our program. Soon you will discover the difference a multi-sensory learning program, designed around your child's individual learning style, can make in your child's educational career. Our commitment to your child is based on the understanding that all children can do better if they are better understood, and that given the right learning environment, they will thrive. My own son received reading help from Step to Success for over 2 years, and we were not only pleased with his academic progress but also with the warm and nurturing environment that was provided by my predecessor, founder of Step to Success, Diane Kulback. My goal is to create a positive environment for children to learn and grow, where their confidence can increase through positive feedback, academic support, love and of course humor! Tutoring isn't forever, and it isn't hard, but just like being on a football team or perfecting the piano, it takes work and consistency. And the rewards for hard work are just a step away.
