We are hiring!!

NDSU Extension Walsh County is seeking a full-time administrative assistant.
This position will support daily office operations, customer service, 4-H programs, communications, Walsh County Fair activities, pesticide training, and other Extension programs.

We're looking for someone who is:
✔ Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
✔ Self-motivated and able to work independently
✔ Comfortable managing multiple priorities
✔ Professional and confident working with the public
✔ Strong in communication, technology, and organizational skills
✔ Able to exercise sound judgment and take initiative

The garden is ready!

Help yourself to peas, beets, cucumbers, zucchini, and there are some peppers and green beans coming soon. The Junior Master Gardening crew approves!

Many thanks to Erna Meberg for volunteering to w**d and water while staff were away at the North Dakota State Fair earlier this week! It’s looking fabulous!

Mark your calendars for July 13, 2026 and join us for a meal and presentations from Kilen Flanagan, Venkat Chapara, Rutendo Nyamusamba, and Rick Novak. We will end the evening by touring the plots east of Park River near David Hankey's Farm.

Rain, rain, please go away on Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings! Our Junior Master Gardener friends want to play outside and get into the garden!

Today, they learned about stems on plants, phloem and xylem, and we talked about the edible stems. The kids enjoyed a rhubarb treat before venturing to our lawn-turned-tomato-garden to help lay down newspapers as a w**d barrier and then cover with mulch to help with moisture retention, w**d suppression, and prevent fungal spores from being splashed onto tomato leaves.

Despite the rain, we have enjoyed learning about plants. We love hearing about how their plants are growing from what they planted at our first session. Keep up the great gardening, kids!
