The District 207 Board of Education honored three students in the area of community service naming them “207’s Best” at a recent meeting. Bilal Usman from Maine East was honored for his advocacy, innovation and empathy.

The Fine Arts Department at Maine East High School invites local 4th through 8th grade students to explore their creativity at the upcoming Encore Explorers: Imagination Palette & Performance workshop. The half-day event takes place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Maine East High School.

Designed to spark imagination and build confidence across various artistic disciplines, attendees can customize their morning by choosing four hands-on workshops in theatre, music, broadcasting, and visual arts among the six choices.

Maine East Wall of Honor nominations are now open!

Maine East High School and its Wall of Honor Selection Committee seek to recognize graduates for their outstanding contributions to society through significant career accomplishments and/or community service. The Wall of Honor serves the dual purpose of recognizing such accomplishments and presenting Distinguished Alumni as role models for current students at Maine East High School.

Any person seeking to nominate a person for inclusion on the wall, should complete the nomination form at https://bit.ly/MEWallofHonor. Nomination materials must be received by November 2, 2026.

Maine East Fine Arts invites you to join them for their fall play, They Promised Her the Moon! Performances will take place on Thursday, October 1 at 4 p.m., and Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3 at 7 p.m. in the Maine East High School Auditorium. They Promised Her the Moon tells the true, long-overlooked story of Jerrie Cobb, a skilled aviator who passed the same rigorous physical and psychological tests as the Mercury 7 astronauts in 1960. The Maine East Blue Regiment had the honor of performing at the University of Illinois Band Day, taking the field alongside hundreds of talented high school musicians from across the state. Students were featured in the halftime show, where they performed with the Marching Illini.
