Start online classes for students !!!!!
It’s pandemic!
Thanks to Saint James School of Medicine, for providing me an opportunity and opening the door to the world of medicine!!!

Inspired by my late grandmother and my experience in Geriatrics, it is a book filled with useful information, tips, and advice on how to live your best life and age successfully. My wish is for everyone to be their own advocate, be proactive and take charge of their own health- physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. The book also includes many tips for caregivers as many people of my generation are becoming witnesses to aging parents, grandparents, and other family members. My goal in writing this book has always been to share my knowledge to help better the lives of many. Part of the proceeds from each book sold will go to a senior charity.

I am grateful for your support! It is the #1 New Release in Aging!!

Together, let’s take care of those who took care of us!

Please read, write a review, repost, share and help spread the word.

This year will mark the 72nd year of celebrating World Health Day!

World Health Day is celebrated every year to raise awareness about the ongoing health issues that concern people across the globe. While it is used as an opportunity to spread awareness about the overall health and well-being of people, this year's theme is "Our Planet, Our Health."

This year's theme brings awareness to the adverse affects of not only unhealthy lifestyles but also how adversely our planet's health affects ours. “WHO estimates that more than 13 million deaths around the world each year are due to avoidable environmental causes. This includes the climate crisis which is the single biggest health threat facing humanity. The climate crisis is also a health crisis.”

It is extremely necessary for us to make conscious efforts to discourage the pollution of air, land and water being caused by industries and minimize waste and littering.

One of our most frequently asked questions is "What is life like studying on the islands?"

We understand many students will experience life on a Caribbean Island only when they arrive to the school at the start of the term. In order to prepare for this, we have published episode 4, "Life on a Caribbean Island."

In this Med School Minutes podcast episode, our guests talk about their experience while living on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Anguilla. They offer insights about the cultural differences and luxuries that the islands offer!

We’re challenging you to try your hand at this USMLE prep question and comment on what you think the correct answer is below!

Question: A randomized clinical trial investigating the efficacy of new oral iron replacement therapy in iron deficient anemia patient was conducted with 300 female participants. There were 2 groups, once receiving a placebo with the current gold standard oral treatment for iron deficiency anemia and the other group receiving the new oral iron replacement therapy. All participants remained in the study for the one-month duration, at which time average serum iron levels were 110 μg/dL and the standard deviation was 15 μg/dL.

Based on this randomized clinical trial, approximately how many participants will have an iron level above 140 μg/dL?

a. 7

b. 10

c. 15

d. 48

Anguilla Relaxing Entry Protocols for Vaccinated Visitors

Anguilla Tourist Board officials state Anguilla is waiving some entry requirements for fully vaccinated travelers over the age of 18!

Effective April 1, vaccinated travelers are no longer required to apply for permission to enter Anguilla. In addition, Anguilla will eliminate arrival testing for travelers who have been fully vaccinated within the last 6 months.

"Visitors arriving in Anguilla will still be required to present evidence of their Covid immunization status with an approved vaccine and proof of a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test result obtained within three days of travel or a rapid antigen test taken within two days of travel."

Meet our current MD4 student, Arunima Rattan! Arunima is currently studying at the Saint Vincent Campus and wanted to share her story!

Arunima was born in India and moved to Ontario, Canada when she was 8 years old. As a daughter of immigrants she remembers all the hardships her parents had to go through making it her goal to follow her dreams of becoming a doctor and making her parents proud.

“Becoming a doctor is something that I have always dreamed of ever since I was a little girl. Looking at medical schools - I needed something for myself that would really allow me to shine and SJSM had small class sizes that really helped me build the connections with professors and deans”

In her time at SJSM, Arunima found herself becoming more involved with the various school based organizations. She began as a Teaching Assistant for Histology and is now the President of the Internal Medicine Interest Group, the Presidents of the Elections Committee, and is the Teaching Assistant for Microbiology. “ SJSM has really given me a platform to shine and really has made me turn into a better version of myself “

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Arunima! We are so excited for your future as a medical professional and look forward to watching you reach every goal you set for yourself!
