The John Thomas Memorial Scholarship has been a cherished tradition in our school community, honoring the life and legacy of a truly remarkable man who was taken from us too soon by cancer. Through this scholarship, countless families have received support to help make a Christian education possible for their children.

This year, we are excited to announce a new format for our annual fundraiser. Rather than hosting a one-day picnic event, the 2026 John Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser will move to an online format. While the event itself is changing, our mission remains the same: honoring John’s memory and raising funds to support families in need.

The fundraiser will continue to include many favorite opportunities from past years, including:
✅ Corporate sponsorships
✅ Individual pledges
✅ Online raffles
✅ Online auction items

To make this event a success, we need your help!

We are currently seeking donations for our online auction and raffles. Popular items include: 🎟️ Event and attraction tickets
✈️ Vacation packages or getaway experiences
🍽️ Gift certificates and gift cards
🏈 Sports memorabilia
🎁 Themed gift baskets
🥩 Specialty raffle items such as a side of beef or half hog

No donation is too small. Even a $10 gift card can be combined with other items to create a fantastic auction basket. If you have an item, service, experience, or connection that could help us raise funds, we would love to hear from you.

🧪🔬 Chemistry Lab = Learning by Doing! 🔬🧪

Science came to life in the SPLHS chemistry lab as our students rolled up their sleeves, put on their safety goggles, and got to work! From mixing solutions to making observations and testing theories, these Giants are discovering that chemistry is much more than what's found in a textbook.

There's plenty of curiosity, teamwork, and a few "wow, that's cool!" moments along the way as students explore how science works in the real world. We're proud of the enthusiasm, critical thinking, and hands-on learning happening every day in our lab!

SPLHS students and families, this is a reminder that there is no school on Labor Day, Monday, September 7.

Labor Day is a time to recognize and celebrate the hard work and contributions of workers across our country. We hope everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved long weekend!
