We are grateful to have a board that goes above and beyond in their service to the community and gives of their time, volunteering to help build a stronger, better local economy in Paris and Lamar County.

On August 10, our City Council reappointed three board members to continue serving Paris through the PEDC Board of Directors. Chairman Josh Bray, Treasurer Chase Coleman, and Board Member Curtis Fendley, ... Read more

Regional economic development begins with strong relationships and a shared vision for opportunity.

The Paris Economic Development Corporation was honored to host Chief Gary Batton and representatives of the Choctaw Nation for a joint meeting and community tour. Our discussions focused on regional collaboration, economic development priorities, and opportunities to build partnerships that strengthen communities on both sides of the Red River.

The visit also gave us an opportunity to showcase Paris including our industrial parks and development sites, major employers, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, infrastructure, and historic downtown.

We appreciate Chief Batton and the Choctaw Nation team for investing their time with us, as well as our local elected officials and community leaders who participated in the conversation. Special thanks to Paris resident and Choctaw tribal member Marion Hamill for helping establish the original connection that made this visit possible.

Meaningful economic development does not stop at city, county, or state lines. It moves forward through trust, collaboration, and partnerships. We look forward to continuing this important regional dialogue.

Economic development is a long game. It takes strategy, collaboration, and countless moving parts behind the scenes, often long before a project is announced or a new job is created.

That’s why we value opportunities to connect with our
community and share more about the work happening behind the scenes, the milestones we’re working toward, and the strategies shaping the future of our community. We’re grateful to the Lamar County Federated Republican Women for the invitation and for taking the time to learn more about the work of Paris Economic Development.

Conversations like these help build a stronger understanding of where we are, where we’re headed, and what it takes to keep Paris moving forward.

Collaboration is one of our community’s greatest strengths.

Today our Community Advisory Board brought together voices from local school districts, Paris Junior College, manufacturing, and economic development, all working toward one goal: building a stronger workforce for our region’s future.

It’s always encouraging to see education and community partners working together with a shared vision for the future. Looking forward to seeing these ideas take shape.

Business retention and expansion remains one of the most important things we do.

Yesterday, the PEDC joined Lamar County Commissioners, and members of the Paris City Council for a tour of Huhtamaki’s recently completed expansion.

This was more than a construction project - it was a business retention and expansion project, helping ensure Huhtamaki continued investing and growing right here in Paris rather than somewhere else. The project included an approximately $85 million investment and a commitment to create 80 new jobs.

It’s always rewarding to see those commitments turn into results. Since the project was announced, Huhtamaki’s Paris workforce has grown from approximately 190 employees to 265 employees, and hiring continues.

Thank you to the Huhtamaki team for hosting the tour and for your continued investment in Paris and Lamar County. We’re proud to support the companies that have chosen to call our community home.
