Last night, our own Joshua “Quiet Man” Sims stepped into the cage and sadly came up short against Alex Her. Joshua was controlling the fight early and showing the work he put into this camp, but in this sport, one slip-up can change everything. It was not the result we trained for or hoped for, but this sport has a way of testing a fighter’s heart just as much as their skill.
First, we want to congratulate Alex Her and his team. They stayed composed, capitalized when the opportunity came, and earned the win. Respect is due, and we give it fully.
For Joshua, this is not the end of the story. Losses are painful, but they also reveal character. The “Quiet Man” has always let his work speak for him, and that will not change. He will take this lesson, carry it with humility, and get back to work with the same discipline and grit that brought him here.
To everyone who supported Joshua through this camp and showed up for him on fight night, thank you. Your encouragement means more than you know. We lose with grace, we learn with purpose, and we move forward together.
On to the next chapter.

We also want to thank Dale "Apollo" Cook for this great opportunity and for how much we are looking forward to the next one with XFN.

Special Thanks to all of our sponsors that not only help us keep our mission going forward but also help us provide martial arts to our kids and competitor classes. Our mission to help Paris would not be possible without you. 🙏

Muay Thai gives kids so much more than just learning how to throw a good punch or kick.

It teaches them to listen, focus, stay calm under pressure, and keep going when things get hard. They build strength, coordination, and confidence, while also learning discipline, respect, and accountability.

But one of our favorite parts here at Warriors Legacy is watching them do hard things, see them struggle a little, and keep showing up! Eventually they realize they can do things they didn’t think they could, and we love that.

We’re not just teaching kids how to fight.

We’re helping build strong, confident, capable young people.

That’s the legacy we care about at Warriors Legacy MMA. 🥊

Sponsored Athlete Application Information
This sponsorship fund is made possible by local businesses that are committed to helping local youth grow through martial arts. Our goal is not only to help students learn to defend themselves, but also to build confidence, discipline, and the mindset to become truly bully proof. At this time, we have enough funding to sponsor up to four students this year.
Eligibility Requirements
• Students must be between the ages of 7 and 18 and be willing to commit to 12 months of training.
• Approved students will train at 50% of the normal rate, with the remaining balance covered by the sponsorship fund.
• Assistance with a first set of school uniforms and gear may also be provided if needed.
• To qualify, families must be able to show they receive food stamps or have another financial hardship that would otherwise prevent the student from training.
Application Requirements
To apply, the student must submit a one-page paper, single-spaced, explaining why they want to train in martial arts and why they believe they deserve the sponsorship. If preferred, the student may instead schedule an in-person interview with a parent present, as schedules allow. To schedule a in person interview please give us a call at (903) 669-8710.

As a Veteran, I can honestly say I’ve had my share of frustrating experiences with the VA. Over the years, finding a doctor who truly listens, cares, and wants what’s best for their patients has felt way too rare. That’s exactly why Dr. Viktor Silver stands out. Since coming back from Iraq in 2007, I’ve done my best to stay active and manage the pain. Most doctors either pushed pain medication or told me spinal fusion was my only option. As a combat athlete, neither of those felt like the right path for me. Then I was referred to Silver Spine & Neurological Center, and for the first time in 15 years, I met a doctor who told me I didn’t need either of those options. After working with Dr. Silver for almost a year, I can honestly say he has me moving and feeling better than I have in a long time, like I’m in my 20s again, even as I’m closing in on 40. What makes him even more special is that he doesn’t just care for his patients, he also gives back to the community. He’s one of the sponsors of our gym, helping us bring world-class Muay Thai and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu to low-income students. If you’re looking for a top-notch doctor who truly cares, I can’t recommend Dr. Silver enough. You can find him at his locations in Sherman, Greenville, McKinney, and now Paris, TX.

I’ve been doing martial arts for over 30 years, and one of the biggest things I’ve learned is that there really is no “perfect” time to start. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching students as young as 18 months old and others well into their 70s. That’s why when someone asks me if they’re too old, too young, or if they should wait until the timing feels right, I always tell them the same thing: if you want to start, then now is a great time. I also hear people say they want to get in shape before beginning, but martial arts is one of the things that helps you get in shape. Waiting to start martial arts until you’re in shape is like waiting to go to school until you’re smart enough—one helps the other. You don’t have to have it all figured out before you begin. You just have to be willing to take that first step.
If this sounds like something you’ve been looking for, come check us out at Warriors Legacy and see why we’ve been voted Best in Lamar County since 2021. Take advantage of our 1-week free trial, which gives you access to our internationally certified Muay Thai kickboxing class, our No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu class featuring 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu techniques, and our Thailand Sword class teaching the ancient single- and double-sword style of Krabi-Krabong. If you’re ready to get started or just want to learn more, give us a call at (903)669-8710 and take your first step into a whole new world.
