HCHS Robotics Team Earns "Most Outstanding Rookie Team" at International Competition in Oklahoma
The Henry County High School (HCHS) Robotics Team made an impressive mark on the international stage this summer at the Global Conference on Educational Robotics (GCER), hosted in Norman, Oklahoma. Competing against elite student teams from around the world, the HCHS squad was honored with the prestigious Most Outstanding Rookie Team award.
During the week-long event, students programmed and deployed autonomous robots to tackle complex engineering challenges and real-time problem-solving tasks. The HCHS student team in attendance included Nina Bechert, Lane Dotson, Myklan Fulton, and Christopher Jackson. The team was guided and supported by Coaches Matthew Chisolm and Travis Jackson.
"We couldn't be prouder of how hard these students worked leading up to and during the competition," said Coach Matthew Chisolm. "To walk away with top rookie honors on an international platform speaks volumes about their dedication, technical skills, and teamwork." Coach Travis Jackson was quoted as saying "I'm not sure who gained more from attending the competition, the students or me. They were phenomenal." GCER brings together middle school, high school, and university students from around the world, as well as educators and researchers, to showcase cutting-edge educational robotics and autonomous technology.
About HCHS Robotics
The Henry County High School Robotics Team provides students with hands-on experience in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through robot design, autonomous programming, and competitive teamwork. For the first time in the school's history, HCHS is offering Robotics class for students interested in Science and Technology. HCHS is excited to instill skills in these young scientists that they can use to differentiate themselves from the crowd as they enter a challenging workforce after graduation.
