Dear Talent Search Community:

We want to provide our community with an update regarding our federal funding.

Currently, our Talent Search program is waiting for the results of the 2026-2031 Talent Search grant competition which has been delayed. We do not yet have a timeline for when this determination will be made.

What this means for our services:

Existing students: We will be continuing to provide services to our existing students for the month of September 2026 including visiting students at target schools. We will still provide students with ACT, SAT and TSI fee waivers, college admissions fee waivers for seniors, assistance with completing the financial aid process, etc.

Services we are not providing currently: We are temporarily pausing the recruitment of new students, college tours, and any other student trips at this time until we receive confirmation of our funding status. We understand this may be difficult news, and we do not take this decision lightly.

We are actively monitoring this situation and will provide updates as soon as we have more information. We remain committed to serving our existing students and to resuming full services as quickly as possible once funding is confirmed.

TRIO Talent Search and Upward Bound have proudly served Northeast Texas through Paris Junior College since 1990 and 1989, respectively. Together, these federally funded programs provide free college-prep services including academic advising, financial aid and scholarship assistance, test preparation, tutoring, and college readiness support—helping students build confidence, achieve their goals, and prepare for success in college and beyond.

The PJC Scholarship Application is LIVE, and now’s the time to apply!
By completing one application, students can be considered for:

PJC Foundation scholarships
Dragon Promise — free tuition (up to 60 credit hours) for eligible 2026 graduates from Lamar and Red River County high schools
