Weekly Highlights from Yeshivat HaGolan🌿
🪖 Military Enlistment:
Immediately following Pesach, our Shiur Bet enlisted in various units, including the Infantry brigades-Kfir, Hashmonaim, and Paratroopers-as well as the Armored Corps and rear-support roles. With over seventy students joining the ranks at once, this marks the largest enlistment in the Yeshiva's history, thank God.
🕯️ Yom HaZikaron: On the eve of Yom HaZikaron, we gathered to honor the memory of the Yeshiva’s fallen alumni, including our two beloved students who fell this past year-Yishai Urbach and Yaniv Kola. Following the ceremony, students shared personal stories of family members, friends, and neighbors who have fallen, most of them in recent years.
ארץ אל תכסי דמם
The following morning, we held our annual memorial service at "Gruber Junction" in memory of Yosef Gruber, who was murdered by terrorists. Afterward, we visited the graves of soldiers buried in the regional cemetery. Rav Mordechai delivered a moving address following the memorial siren.
The tradition continued after Mincha: we divided the pages of masechet Sotah among the students, each learning a page in memory of a specific fallen soldier, until we finished the whole masechet.
🇮🇱 Yom Ha'atzmaut: On the eve of Yom Ha'atzmaut, following a festive tefilkah, we celebrated with joyous dancing. During the festive meal, we held a Yeshiva-style "Torch Lighting" ceremony, followed by short talks from the Rabbis and a group discussion on current events.
Together with all of Israel, we were deeply moved to see our dear alumnus, Ari Spitz, light a torch at the national ceremony. We pray and believe that Ari will continue his blessed work "for the glory of the State of Israel."
🏔️ The Holiday Celebrations: On the day, we went on a hike to Nachal El-Al, concluding with the traditional barbecue. In the afternoon, Rav Tuvia gave a lecture on "Halakhic Priorities in Budgeting," followed by a Yeshiva Bible Quiz and a "Poetry Slam."
🏕️ A Prayer for our Soldiers: Our Shiur Dalet are still serving in the reserves. Together with all of Israel, we pray for continued victory and the decisive defeat of our enemies.
