Evelyn Street Day School is a year-round facility where children are nurtured and educated from 6 weeks old through to 5 years old.
Qualifications
-Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and have relevant experience
-Must undergo a state background check
-Must have fingerprint check within one week of hire
-Must have a Mantoux test done within the first week of hire
-Must submit confirmation from a physician of being in good health
-Must speak, write, and read English fluently
-Must possess good communication skills being clear, diplomatic, and respectful
-Must be energetic, friendly, diplomatic, and caring
-Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
-Must become familiar with the ages and stages of development for daycare aged children
-Must assist the lead teacher with; lesson preparation, changing diapers, cleaning, sanitizing, and various other duties.
-Must be flexible regarding shift changes, room assignments, and hours per week
-Must understand the ages and stages of child development
-Must be familiar with the learning process of children
-Must be able to manage the room in the absence of the lead teacher
-Must be able to lift children of 40 pounds
Job responsibilities (Partial list)
-Supervise children in all activities and keep them safe
-Attend a once-monthly (first Thursday of the month) mandatory staff meeting after hours anywhere between the hours of 6-8pm
-Establish a respectful relationship with the staff, parents, and administration
-Speak to children in a calm, respectful manner using acceptable tone and words
-Be helpful to the lead teacher in any way necessary such as but not limited to: prepping activities, conducting small group engagement, singing songs, preparing/dispensing meals, changing diapers, washing hands, stocking class with supplies, and supervising children
-Keep lines of communication open with coworkers, families, and administration
-Report any injuries, incidents, and concerns to administration
-Maintain a clean, organized, clutter-free room including but not limited to: sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, vacuuming the carpet, cleaning and sanitizing chairs and tables daily, keeping toys organized and complete as in puzzles, cleaning the gate and windows when needed or once weekly
-Know the numbers of students in the room at all times including to and from the gym, outside playtime and for fire drills, lockdowns, and evacuation drills
-Write out daily sheets to parents
-File an accident or injury report for parents and administration
-Be attentive to each individual child’s needs such as but not limited to: change of soiled diaper, change of soiled clothing, wiping of nose, cleaning of face, offering a hug and being comforted in various situations.
This is a full-time position with a negotiable salary.
