Yesterday was a truly unforgettable day as we officially cut the ribbon on the brand-new Paradise Elementary School!

The energy and excitement in the air were incredible as we celebrated this huge milestone for our students, families, and community. We were so honored to have so many dedicated staff members—both past and present—join us for the celebration! Seeing generations of educators and team members gathered together was a beautiful reminder of the heart and history that make our school family so special.

We are beyond thrilled for the upcoming school year and the bright future ahead for Paradise Elementary and the entire Paradise Unified School District (PUSD). Thank you to everyone who worked so tirelessly to make this dream a reality!

We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Kelly will be joining us at Paradise Elementary as our 5th grade teacher.

Wow the last 28 years have flown by. Hi, I’m Ms. Kelly. Yes, this will be my 29th year teaching. I have had the pleasure of teaching preschool through 8th grade in three states, teaching whatever the district needed me to teach. For me, teaching is not a job. It’s a calling. This will be my 2nd year with PUSD. I will be teaching 5th grade at PES. 5th grade is my jam and am excited about returning to it. I raised my daughter in Chico where I earned my credential. I am absolutely honored to be part of such an important piece of Paradise’s history moving forward. I look forward to meeting you and welcoming my 4th graders from last year and my new students coming to us for the first time. Welcome to 5th grade!

I would like to introduce one of our incredible 4th grade teachers, Mrs. Mahon.

Mrs. Mahon was born and raised in Paradise with her mother, father, brother, and two sisters. She went to Paradise Elementary when she was younger and is thrilled to now be teaching here. Mrs. Mahon has taught 3rd grade, Transitional Kindergarten, and now teaches 4th grade. She has loved each grade for its unique experiences, but has really found her home in 4th grade and is very excited for the opportunity to job-share with her sister, Mrs. Burke. On her free time, Mrs. Mahon enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family. She is quite the social butterfly, so don’t be afraid to reach out and say hello! She is grateful to be serving the community that helped raise her and is happy to give back in a similar way.

Please meet, Mrs. Bainbridge, our amazing TK/K teacher at Paradise Elementary.

I'm so excited to be teaching transitional kindergarten and kindergarten for the amazing kids of Paradise Elementary. This is my 21st year of teaching. I spent many years teaching high school Spanish, a handful of years as a reading intervention teacher, and over ten years teaching a transitional kindergarten and kindergarten combo class.

I have a passion for making learning engaging and have spent many years leading school garden programs and outdoor education. I love helping students discover the outdoors through science and exploration. You may find me running, biking, kayaking, and enjoying the outdoors. Coaching, playing, and officiating basketball have always been a big part of my life. You may even see me officiating local basketball games outside of school. Although I grew up in the Lake Almanor area, I've also had some unforgettable adventures, including being an exchange student in Brazil, where I water-skied on a lake with piranhas, lived in a real cave in Spain, and rode a camel across the Gobi Desert in Mongolia.

One of my favorite children's books is Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig because it reminds us to stay calm and appreciate what really matters. My favorite song is "Nobody Right, Nobody Wrong" by Michael Franti, a song that reflects the kindness, respect, and understanding for others that I hope to bring into my classroom each day.
