Trunk or Treat wouldn't be a success without goodies! This year, we are bringing back a little friendly competition, and we are asking for donations of candy/goodies for the Trunk or Treat. We are having a grade-level competition, and THE FIRST GRADE LEVEL TO MEET ITS GOAL WINS A PRIZE!
Please send donations to school with your student any time before Friday, Oct. 23.

Kindergarten, 1st & 3rd grades are asked to donate 1,150 pieces of candy each (for example, one bag full of 75 pieces would be counted as 75 pieces).
All remaining grades (2nd, 4th, 5th & 6th grades that have three classrooms per grade) are asked to donate 1,725 pieces of candy each.
In order to have some variety, we are suggesting that grades donate the following:

Kindergarten-3rd grades: Please contribute chocolate candies and/or trinkets (bubbles, stickers, pencils, erasers, etc.).
4th-6th grades: Please contribute suckers/hard candy/gummy candy.
Please try to donate peanut/tree nut free items if possible to be considerate of those with a nut allergy.

This year, we’d love to make candy-eating monsters that the kids can “feed” with their Trunk or Treat donations. If you are crafty and would like to make a monster, please sign up! Monster inspiration is pictured above.
If you would like to build a monster and your child's grade level is full, please sign up under another grade level to help us meet our goal of seven monsters for this event.

Join us for a free screening of Counted Out on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the PLHS Excellence Center.

Algorithms decide what we see online, what our insurance costs, and even who gets parole. AI is reshaping every industry, and a single statistic can make people far more likely to believe a claim without question. The math behind these decisions is shaping our kids' futures, so what happens when most of them grow up believing they're "not math people"? Counted Out makes the case that math isn't just for engineers and accountants. It's how we separate good information from bad, and it's a skill every student is capable of.

The film starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by a facilitated talkback at 7 p.m. Hosted by the PLCS Empowerment Collective and Mathnasium, and free to all PLCS residents with no registration needed.
