Welcome Back To NFSIS
Journey through our first Month at our little Waldorf-inspired school in the North Fork… 🌻

Sixth graders fine-tuning their sound in band.
Third graders gathering around a story, reading together.
The whole school coming together for Friday assembly, feeling courage rise as we prepare for our Festival of Courage play.

There is a sweetness in the air.

Sixth graders greeting their first-grade buddies, welcoming them into the rhythm of the grades.

Our Native Sunflower Rose Ceremony—a Waldorf tradition rooted in our relationship with this land and the heritage held within it. 🌻

The whole school preparing together for Michaelmas.
For courage.
For bravery.
For magic.

Kinders tending the garden.
Art blooming across the walls.
Class pets greeting you like old friends.
Teachers and staff pouring their goodness and beauty and into every corner.

Learning isn’t only something that happens at a desk or in front of a screen.

It lives in the songs we sing, the stories we tell, the gardens we tend, the older children who guide the younger, the traditions we carry, and the courage we practice together.

This is what low-tech education can look like.

Childhood with room to wonder.
Education with room to breathe.
A school that feels a little like coming home. 🌻

BIG NEWS from Delta County School District!

Paonia K-8 and the North Fork School of Integrated Studies have both earned the prestigious John Irwin Schools of Excellence Award from the Colorado Department of Education!

This award celebrates schools that consistently go above and beyond, “exceeding” expectations in academic achievement for three straight years. That’s sustained excellence backed by hard work, dedication, and strong school communities.

Named in honor of John J. Irwin, a Colorado legislator who fought for quality education for all students, this award is a meaningful recognition of impact that lasts far beyond the classroom.
