05/31/2019
Today, May 31, 2019, was the final day of the school year at Oakland Terrace Elementary for the Visual and Performing Arts. It also marked the final day the doors of Oakland Terrace would be open. The last Orcas made their way down the halls for dismissal, tears in eyes, as they not only said goodbye for the summer, but said goodbye to their teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, social worker, nurse, guidance counselor and the school itself.
Oakland Terrace has been more than a school; it has been a safe place, a nurturing place, a place where students could be themselves and flourish both academically and socially/emotionally. We have prided ourselves on accepting all students, loving all students and pouring our hearts into all students that have graced the hallways of Oakland Terrace, no matter their background or history. Oakland Terrace will live on in the hearts and minds of every student, teacher and staff member that called it home. Thank you to the parents, community and organizations that have supported Oakland Terrace throughout the years as none of it would have been possible without your support.
Once an Orca, always an Orca!
With love and appreciation,
Bryan Long
