🐝🥤 Our Hornets started the day with something SWEET! 🥤🐝

Thanks to the generosity of some wonderful community supporters, our teachers and staff kicked off yesterday with a Dirty Soda Bar — and it was a HUGE hit!

Never had a dirty soda? It’s your favorite soda mixed with flavored syrups, sometimes a splash of half & half, maybe a fresh lime wedge — or whatever combination sounds good to you! It might sound a little unusual, but our Hornets quickly discovered just how delicious these combinations can be. 😋

Our staff had so much fun mixing, matching and trying something new. The Strawberry Swarm 🍓🐝 seemed to fly away with the title of crowd favorite, although the Hornet’s Nest had plenty of fans, too!

And today was the PERFECT day for a little extra treat. It’s a long one for our teachers and staff as we prepare for Open House this afternoon, so some extra caffeine — served with a side of fun — was definitely welcome! 🥤⚡️Big shout out to School Board Member Ann Leonard who stopped by to help pour sodas and chat with staff.

We are so grateful to the community supporters who helped us show a little extra appreciation to the hardworking teachers and staff who give so much to our students every day. 💚💛

📚🍿 A Taste for Reading! 🍿📚

On Friday, some of our Jinks learners had the chance to try a Book Tasting — and no, the books were NOT on the menu! 😂

Instead of simply judging a book by its cover, students got a real “taste” of several different titles. They examined the cover, checked out the description on the back, read the first couple of pages, recorded their observations, and decided whether each book left them hungry for more. 📖

And because everything is better with snacks, each completed book tasting earned a little something to add to their snack bags! 🍿🍬

There were some definite hits, a few “not for me” misses, and plenty of good conversation along the way. Most importantly, our learners walked away knowing a little more about three different books and authors they might want to explore in the future.

Finding your next great read sometimes just takes a little taste! 📚✨

☀️ A huge THANK YOU to Royal American for treating our faculty and staff to a wonderful breakfast this morning! Your generosity helped us wrap up our final day of pre-planning feeling appreciated, energized, and ready for an incredible year ahead.

As Professional Development comes to a close, our teachers are shifting their focus to preparing classrooms, planning engaging lessons, and putting the finishing touches on everything before we welcome our Hornets next week. We can’t wait to fill these hallways with students again!

We are incredibly grateful to Royal American and to all of the community partners who have supported Jinks Middle School during back-to-school season. Your kindness reminds our staff that we have an entire community cheering us on.

This year, we’re embracing our school motto: Together We Swarm. Together, we’ll learn, grow, support one another, and reach new heights as one Hornet family.
