Well… that was super vulnerable (and exciting)! I just sent an invitation to everyone on my friends list to follow along with my newest adventure. I’m starting something that is truly meaningful to me, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
As many of you know, my family has experienced plenty of ups and downs on our journey as foster and adoptive parents, as parents to children with unique needs in school, and honestly… as parents in general. Along the way, I’ve learned so much, and I feel called to share those lessons to help make the journey a little easier for others.
The first part of this adventure will focus on siblings of individuals with unique needs. When we were first learning about Jay’s diagnoses, I desperately wanted a place where my other children could feel supported and understood. That’s where SibShops will come in and I’m so excited about the impact they can have.
My hope is to offer:
• Groups for siblings of children touched by child welfare involvement
• Separate groups for siblings of children with disabilities
From there, SibShops will be followed by learning opportunities for parents, especially around advocating for their children in schools. Our experiences took us from a place of comfort, to significant struggle, and now into a new season of support. Getting here hasn’t been easy, but my children are doing well in school and part of that is because I learned things like the difference between supports and services and how to confidently ask for what they need.
I can’t wait for things to take off in 2026. Come along and follow the adventure!
