2016 Bay District Schools Climate Survey
Welcome, PARENTS, to the
2016 Bay District Schools Climate Survey!
As the parent of a Bay District Schools’ student(s), your input is highly valued by our
district. We will be administering school climate surveys to students as well. If you
would like to opt-out of your child participating in the 2016 School Climate Survey:
Student, please notify your child’s principal in writing by March 11, 2016.
We are asking parents to let us know the strengths and weaknesses of the school their
student(s) attends. Climate Survey data is used to drive decisions at your school site.
Surveys are based on hallmarks of safe and effective schools including: purpose and
direction, governance and leadership, teaching and assessing for learning, resources
and support systems, and using results for continuous improvement.
The survey process is completely anonymous; there are no methods to link names
with survey responses. We ask that you provide honest and sincere responses. The
main purpose of this survey is to improve your student’s school. If you have students
at multiple schools, we ask that you complete a survey for each individual school
where you have a student attending.
The survey uses a rating scale of 5, 4, 3, 2, or 1. A ranking of 5 means that you
“Strongly Agree” and a ranking of 1 means you “Strongly Disagree.” Once you
access the survey, you must select the correct school and grade level of your student
before beginning the survey. The survey window will be open beginning March 7,
2016, and continue through April 1, 2016. To access the survey, follow the directions
below:
1. Go to the Bay District web page at www.bay.k12.fl.us;
2. On the home page, click on “2016 School Climate Survey: Parent”;
3. Follow survey directions for completion.
