Our Thunderbird Cross Country teams are off to an amazing start! During the first meet our boys came in 5th place out of 11 teams and the girls took 6th out of 10 teams. Special shout out to Amelia Buckley for placing in the top 10! Thank you Coach Dixon for getting our runners ready to compete! 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️👟🏅

Congratulations to our Golden Hammer Award recipient of the week: Ms. Lisa Gibson (Middle School ELA)! Ms. Gibson was nominated by Ms. Kim Iferd who shared this: It is my pleasure to nominate Mrs. Lisa Gibson for the Golden Hammer Award. Mrs. Gibson's unwavering dedication to her students and her willingness to collaborate with other teachers in order to do what's best for her middle school students sets her apart. Mrs. Gibson has allowed me to join her classes the last few years and I find myself in awe of the passion and knowledge she brings, not only to the students in her classes, but to me as well. She is a true cheerleader for her students, celebrating their accomplishments and encouraging them through their challenges. We are all lucky to have this special lady at Tyndall Academy and I am honored to call her my colleague and my friend.

Congratulations to our Golden Hammer of the Week recipient: Ms. Kim Iferd (SLP)! Ms. Iferd was nominated by Mr. Weiss who shared this: I would like to nominate Kim Iferd. She is active all over the campus of Tyndall Academy. She deeply impacts the lives of the students she provides services to but also the lives of other students she comes in contact with around campus. She freely shares her expertise and experience with new teachers. Assisting with learning how to professionally accomplish IEP’s and other important technical things. This improves the level of service to our students. She does this without judgement but a desire to see Tyndall Academy succeed. She also leads the Social Committee to serve the staff at Tyndall Academy. Showing care in fun and difficult situations for fellow staff. She serves Tyndall Academy students & families, staff, and all.

Kindergarten and 1st grade spent their first week learning new routines, making new friends, exploring their classrooms, and practicing what it means to SOAR at Tyndall Academy! 🦅✏️📚

From walking the halls and learning cafeteria expectations to lots of smiles, hugs, teamwork, and first-week fun, these sweet Thunderbirds are already showing us they are Safe, Owning Choices, Actively Engaged, and Respectful! 🌟

We are so excited for all the learning, growing, and memories ahead this year. Our youngest Thunderbirds are already proving they are… BUILT DIFFERENT! 🧱🔨✨

Congratulations to our Quarter 1 Horace Mann Crystal Apple Award Recipient: Ms. Shannon Williams (Media Specialist). Ms. Williams was nominated by the Admin Team who shared this: Ms. Williams consistently goes above and beyond to support our students and staff, often giving her time without hesitation and simply because she cares deeply about our school community. Over the summer, she spent countless hours organizing, preparing, and delivering new curriculum materials and textbooks to teachers to ensure they returned for the new school year with the resources they needed to be successful. Shannon is also constantly looking for ways to create new opportunities for our students and staff. She has taken the initiative to write grants to keep our book vending machine stocked with books for our students, as well as to secure resources that support technology across our school. Her commitment to finding solutions and improving our school is evident in all that she does.
Shannon is organized, flexible, patient, and incredibly responsive. No matter the situation, she is always willing to jump in and help. She works tirelessly to make sure our students and staff have the resources and support they need, while continually looking for ways to make Tyndall Academy an even better place to learn and work. We are incredibly grateful for Shannon’s dedication, generosity, and commitment to Tyndall Academy. She truly represents the heart of what it means to be Built Different, and we are so fortunate to have her on our team.
