Hello,
My name is Sandy Hathaway, and I am the Founder and Director of The Learning Center at Heritage Farm, a homeschool instructional program hosted by Heritage House Ministries.
You are receiving this email because you recently reached out regarding our posting for new teachers. Thank you so much for your interest.
As we prepare to begin our fifth year, we are excited to welcome our students back on August 24. At this time, we are still seeking one exceptional person who feels called to work with children.
Position Overview
This position is for our middle school class (ages 13–14), working primarily with our seventh-grade students. We are currently expecting a class of six students.
This is a wonderful group of young people. They are respectful, eager to learn, and do not present behavioral challenges. Like most students, a few benefit from a little extra encouragement or individualized support, but overall they work well independently and make steady progress through their studies.
We are looking for someone who enjoys building relationships with students and guiding them through this important season of growth—academically, socially, and personally.
Responsibilities Include:
Teaching all core subjects except math. (Math is completed through an online program, although some tutoring and guidance will be needed.)
Preparing weekly lesson plans.
Planning and coordinating at least four field trips during the year, including one overnight educational trip.
Building relationships with other middle school homeschool groups in Bay County to create opportunities for fellowship and collaboration.
Maintaining regular communication with parents.
Working alongside our other teachers during group activities and school-wide events.
Identifying opportunities within the curriculum to enrich learning through experiences such as science fairs, community service projects, guest speakers, and other hands-on activities.
Although I make the final decisions as director, I firmly believe our teachers should have a voice at the table. We work together as a team—sharing ideas, evaluating what is working, encouraging one another, and continually looking for ways to better serve our students. One of my favorite parts of this ministry is watching our teachers grow alongside our children.
Our teachers serve as independent contractors and receive a 1099 at the end of the year. (EMAIL FOR MORE DETAILS ABOUT PAY)
There is certainly a great deal of responsibility in this role, but you will never be expected to do it alone. We provide curriculum, resources, encouragement, and ongoing support throughout the year—and I am always available to help.
